I already implemented this feature in all the sites I run. Thanks to all who spent time into this.
Nevertheless, the method presented here is a core hack, which isn't the most elegant way. So, I used it in a 3pd extension and got the same result with a plus that is the ability to use captcha in my user forms. The extension is aUserManager from Alikonweb. I used the component for the tweaking and the module plus the captcha plugin to gain the captcha feature.

Thanks again, guys!
So how does this work? How do I use Alikonweb User Manager? To redirect activation email to admin for "approval" ?

Just simple install this plugin : http://www.joomlaxi.com/downloads.html? ... einfo&id=8

Enable it, and customize the emails in plugin backend.

Now whenever user register's , he will be asked for email verification.
Once he verifies his email, his account will still be blocked, a email will be sent to admin to approve the user
once admin approve the user, user's account will be unblocked, and an email will be sent to user.

Thank you so much for creating this plugin. I'm still in the process of creating my site and hadn't realised all the hacks I did before the latest upgrade to joomla has been removed.

This plugin will save me having to do them again.

Thanks so much!

We have now a multilingual plugin which is inspired by joomlaxi's original and uses ini files instead of parameters in the back-end.

See http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... 07/details

It comes with 31 languages.

Joomlaxi, I've been to your site. Can you tell me which membership I have to purchase to get this plugin as it doesn't work with the free one? :'(

Thanks ;)

Hi ricklisle,

Why don't you use JM's plugin instead? It's actually the same plugin, only the messages are configured in language files, not in the plugin's parameters ;)

Thank you, I simply hate hacking the core files, because it makes patching the site non-trivial.

However, I will still need to add a few extra columns since I want to add address and zip code to new user registrations.

How is this different than the Multilingual one in this thread which requires NO EMAIL so NO SPAM?

The difference is in code structure and easy customization if required.
Also improved support for new functionality. The multilangual component have our code running behind scene, so we know that the older code was quite a big mess for customization.

We have improved it, so you can customize it with any compoent (VM / CB or any)

Is there any way I can change the responses going to the super-administrator; I have a person that her job is to approve the registrations, once shehas checked tomake sure they are members. I tried with "Multilingual Registration Support" and the email only goes to the Super-Administrator, not manager, not administrator.
Thanks

Hi all

I have Joomla 1.5.20 with Kunena Forum. I know nothing about web developing but my web designer left me in the lurch, so I am left do do everything on my own.

I want to install the plug-in to first approve new registrations, because I am receiving a lot of spam at the moment. This spammer keeps on registering and posting on the site.

How do I install the plug-in? Please help!

Yes thanks
I did realise that but having taken the decision to install the xi plugin I was hoping a migration to 1.6 could be avoided as some of the components installed on the site may not work on 1.6
I will just have to keep searching

Hello!
First i whant to say I am a complet noob in Joomla. I was wondering if there is any way i can do these steps:
1) New user enters their details to register
2) New user receives email saying that their registration needs to be authorised
3) Admin receives an email with users details and link to activate
4) Admin clicks activation link and user receives email to say that they have been approved and can now login. And admin is redirected to the main page of the site and gets a message that he has succesfully accepted a user or he recieves an email with the same message.

Can I modify directly the code? or does something already made exists?
I have Joomla 1.5.22 instaled.
Thank you!
