Registration : How can I split field NAME into First/Last na

Hello,

As I am new to joomla I find myself in the position of replicating an old website. So I need to have user profile with First Name and Last Name separately. How can i do this ? Most of all i would like to have a solution without affecting the core (extending it) as i want to be compatible with further updates.

"HOW TO" extended fields in registration. No EXT needed.

Thank you, this solution i have found it already. I was looking for something NOT to modify core files (this solution touches at least 2 files). I have found something interested and managed to work with, it a plugin UserMeta.

Looking forward for a documentation how to do this "in house" by extending or cloning com_user. Again I'm a joomla beginner and i dont know if what i want is achievable but i'll find out someday :)
