Kindly help, i'm facing this same issue on our Joomla which we cannot login to the admin page.
The thing is there is no error upon submitting the login its like that the page just reload after hitting the login.
Please advise.

This work for me:
- go to cPanel, public_html, Open configuration.php with Code Editor
- point cursor infront <?php and click backspase 3-4 times
- nothing seems to be changed
- click Save changes
That's it!

Can't login to the administrator page can also be a way to protect your site from hackers

In My joomla it's doesn't opens front-end and back-end that shows an error as given Below please answer for this frnds.....

Hi I see that this post is very old, I have joomla 3 and have the same problem, and try to resolve it with the solutions presented but the problem persists, can you help?

Same problem. Still using 1.5 and want to migrate desperatly. Can't find a solution. Anyone have more ideas?

Make sure you have the three index files in your administrator folder. If you are using a security extension like Admin Tools or jSecure you may need to use a different admin url to access your login.

Hi, just a simple solution that worked for me :
Delete or change a cookie configuration in file "configuration.php"
public $cookie_domain = ''; Or other value!
After spend a day in test everything...

In my case it was the forced SSL-Connection, so when I changed the value $force_ssl form 1 to 0 in configuration.php then it worked (change to var $force_ssl = '0'; ). Is not a real solution because it should also work with ssl but you can than login and care about the problem.

I searched around the web for one day for answers, i got tired and unpacked a fresh installation of joomla over my installation on my ftp, it let me login again.

Finally.
My solution:

Just fix it.
I saved CONFIGURATION.php file (edited with notepad++) in ANSI format, not UTF-8 which was default.
The problem started when I edited configuration.php in UTF-8 encoding. Must be in ANSI
