Making Bots Not Access My Website

Post by chugger93 » Tue Mar 10, 2009 2:08 pm

I'm using joomla internally sorta speak but its still out on the internet. I dont want any bots to access my site and index it. What files do I edit to put the code in? I'm assuming I'm looking for like an index.html file.

Thanks in advance!

The file you want to edit is robots.txt (should be in the root folder where you normally have index.php or index.html

Inside this (which is a normal text file) put the lines:

Code: Select all

User-agent: *
Disallow: /

...well, more or less....at least the 'good' bots. The 'bad' bots do whatever they want >:(
