I get an error message saying that Windows Internet Explorer "can not open the web area"... and then that my complete "site can not be shown in Internet Explorer".

After that I'm unable to get access to the site with MSIE, but the site opens in other browsers. Had this problem both with MSIE 7 - and now in MSIE 8, too.

Any idea what could be the problem?

Can you give us the URL so we can see for ourselves? You may have IE security settings up a little too high.

The URL is in first error message.

http://www.frittforum.org/the-news/196-glimt-fra-luttens-og-gitarens-historie.html

The site appears to be working in Firefox, although the link does try and bring up an article dated 10th August that gives a 404 error on the middle of the page, but otherwise it all works.

Could the issue be related to a com_sh404sef component?

There are some odd things in the page's <meta> tags:

Code:
<meta name="keywords" content="Found, Requested, Could, Content, Sorry, Aug, " />
<meta name="description" content="10. aug2009 404 404: Not Found Sorry, but the content you requested could not be found..." />

It could be due to settings in the respective browsers.

The site loaded in FireFox with the following informational error:
Code:
Security Error: Content at http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/ may not load data from http://www.frittforum.org/Artikler-og-kommentarer/.

In Chrome it loaded fine with the following error:
Code:
Unsafe JavaScript attempt to access frame with URL http://www.frittforum.org/the-news/196-glimt-fra-luttens-og-gitarens-historie.html from frame with URL http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/ads?client=ca-pub-5856951587102251&dt=1249906263338&lmt=1249906262&output=html&slotname=0945882276&correlator=1249906263347&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.frittforum.org%2Fthe-news%2F196-glimt-fra-luttens-og-gitarens-historie.html&frm=0&ga_vid=474138989.1249906263&ga_sid=1249906263&ga_hid=120403456&flash=10.0.32&w=468&h=60&u_h=800&u_w=1280&u_ah=772&u_aw=1280&u_cd=32&u_tz=-240&u_his=2&u_java=true&u_nplug=11&u_nmime=28&ifi=1&dtd=92&xpc=ATE2XosfcK&p=http%3A//www.frittforum.org. Domains, protocols and ports must match.

In IE7 the site loads then just before the slideshow happens shows a popupwindow with the message
Code:
Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http://www.frittforum.org/the-news/196-glimt-fra-luttens-og-gitarens-historie.html
Operation aborted.

When you click on the Ok button you cannot see anything except for the message Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

I'm having a similar problemo on my site http://www.breathwork.be

I have had several reports from a;; over the world that msie users are not able to access the site.

When I run msie 7 against the site it gives the same errors as mentioned above, but it works in FF, Safari, opera and chrome on ubuntu and msw vista.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

From talking to users of the site it appears to have started happening over the last 3 weeks or so.

many thanks

@breathwork:

You have a lot going on in the page and it's possible you have Javascript that conflicts with Mootools. Since your situation is a recent occurence, you might try disabling extensions/modules to see if page fully renders.

Well what a too doo

It seems the culprit is partially an old version of superblogger, but there is something in the old template as well.

Have switched templates and disabled superblogger and the site displays again msie

Thanks for the pointers... 8)
