I worked on my site the entire day and stopped for a short while. When I called up the login screen to start working again (mywebsite.com/administrator) the admin panel was missing.

I accessed the database through mysql and reset the password just in case, but still no admin panel.

I'm new to Joomla and do not have a backup other than what the host provider may have.

Any help and direction would be greatly appreciated -- on how to fix the problem and prevent it in the future.

Thanks!

Solution Fixed!

I am hosted on Godaddy and through my control panel I was able to restore my admin directory from 3 days ago. I did not restore any other directories, just this one. I can now login fine.

I hope this info helps someone in the future.

Thanks!

This has happened to one of my sites too - and it's not the first time -

The index.php page is still there, so I can instruct a client to use that - but it has me miffed ...

the only things I can remotely imagine might have caused the code change is captcha .....

Anybody know where the admin page is driven? not in configuration.php

M'am

Not sure if it's CAPTCHA, as I do not have it set up yet.

It's a really scarry situation though! After working on the site for six weeks and I couldn't access, I was pretty nervous!

Darn!

Maybe you could start restoring folder by folder and see if anything happens. Hopefully something will work as I know myself how frustrating this can be.

After I did get it up and running, I created two Super Admin accounts -- I do not use the "Admin" login at all any more.
