For me, this problem came about the same time cPanel sent "Drive Critical: /dev/loop0 (/tmp) is xx% full" warnings.
Got my web host to address this and my Joomla problem was resolved. Apparently it had something to do with MySQL services running out of room for temporary storage.

I have a similar problem. When I try to access any item in Menu Manager section, the result is ERROR 500.

The website encountered an error while retrieving http://something.com/administrator/inde ... e=mainmenu. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.

I didn't change .htaccess, I don't know when this error started, I've noticed it when I was trying to associate one of new articles with one of main menu links. cPanel error log is empty. I've tried to activate debugging but I can't see any error info in browser. Any suggestions?
