Remove the little PDF/print/email icons? Text Size Icons?
I have no need for the little PDF/email/print icons, and they are making my homepage look weird. I cant find a module to uninstall to get rid of them.
Also, the little "A" icons on the header that allow you to change the text size of the site... I want to get rid of those as well.
How would I do this?
Thank you.
EDIT: Also, not a huge deal, but just curious.
Instead of having the little "read more" link at the bottom of the summary, is it possible to just make the title a clickable link?

If you want to remove the pdf/print/email icons globally go to
Content menu --> Article manager
Click the "Parameters" button in the upper right.
A Global Configuration box will appear. Towards the bottom are the radio buttons for the icons. Set them all to "hide", then scroll back to the top and click the Save button. Then as you create menu items and you have to configure this for each page as well, make sure you set those parameters to "Use Global".
I did discover how to remove the accessibility (font) buttons but now I can't remember how I did it.

So, I did what you said. And it worked, kinda?
It worked on every single page except the home page. Check it out.
http://www.didntread.com
All the changes I set took effect on all the different category pages, but not the home page.
Very weird. I cleared all the caches and stuff.

Check the settings for each article on your front page. You want to look in Parameters (Advanced) on the right side. Make sure the icon settings are set to "use global". If they are set to "show" then they are overriding your global settings.

They are all set to Use Global.
Also, the articles that still display the PDF do NOT display the pdf buttons in the category pages.
Example:
On the front page, the article "Things We Have All Learned From Spam Email " still has all 3 buttons.
Yet if you go to the tech section of the site, which is where this article is located, that very same article is correct.
So, I don't think it is an article issue. Its a homepage issue?

Re: Article Parameters not Applying to Front Page
Yeah it weird. my homepage updates fine with new content and stuff, it just won't accept the article parameters...
Ive meticulously gone through every setting in the backend. I can't figure this one out.

Re: Remove the little PDF/print/email icons? Text Size Icons?
The Hide vs. Show controls for the "Little Three" icons are in three different places.
1. Article Manager - Hit the Parameters tool which is mixed in with the set of tools on top along with Trash, Edit New, etc. This is a big change from Joomla 1.0 and tripped me up pretty often at first.
2. Menu Items - Often overlooked when troubleshooting layout issues, the Menu Items have a ton of control over the layout of the pages they're linked to. You'll find the icon controls in the Parameters (Component) accordion menu on the right side.
3. The Article - You'll find the icon controls under Parameters (Advanced) on the right.
As for the 3 A's (the large medium and small text switchers), you will find the code for this in your template. The easiest way is to open the index file of your template and comment out that part of the code <!--code for the 3 a's--> so you can put it back later if you want to.
I hope this helps somebody...

Re: Remove the little PDF/print/email icons? Text Size Icons?
I too have this problem that the three icons does not disappear even if I have turned them off in global article settings. (tip 1)
A tip from somewhere else enabled me to turn them off on the front page but they remain on all other pages.
Tip 2 above I cannot find in the Admin GUI.
Tip 3 : all articles are set to use Global Settings (as set in tip 1)
This is Joomla 1.5.8 and I have tried different templates and languages - all have the same problem.

Re: Remove the little PDF/print/email icons? Text Size Icons?
I think my original response was from a 1.0 perspective.
Here it is from 1.5
Tip 1 - in article Manager hit the Parameters icon in the upper right. You'll see the icon controls in the lightbox pop up.
Tip 2 - Under Menu, go to your Main Menu (and any menu you are using) then individually open the menu items. Check the Parameters(Component) on the right.
Tip 3 - Open the individual articles and check Parameters(Advanced)
Three separate places to check. Check them all.
I hope that helps.
Happy New President.

It's called Options in 2.5. Look for it within the Articles Tab.

Re: Remove the little PDF/print/email icons? Text Size Icons
It's quite simply actually. There are two files.
emailButton.png
printButton.png
You find them in /public_html/media/system/images. Download them, pull them into Photoshop or similar, delete the image to leave a white background or the background colour that these icons appear on, upload them back to where they belong, and they're not visible. An example of this can be found at http://unionsouthcoast.co.za/
