Everytime I try to update my website or install a template, module or anything i get a page that says:
The specified URL cannot be found.
with the url: http://www.mysite.com/administrator/index.php
and the website goes down for a while.

I so need some help. This is my third joomla website and I have never had a problem like this. I tired googling this problem and came up with nothing. There was a previous post like this but with no answer, so I'm hoping someone will answer me.

If you're on a cpanel server you are most likely being blocked by mod security. This happens to me from time to time with Internet Explorer. Try not using 'www', just yoursite.com/administrator in admin and see if the problem goes away. This usually does it for me.

I tired that and still the same problem, tried it even from safari and firefox and ie and still had the same issue. Do you think that reinstalling joomla will solve the problem?

Hi Everyone,

I am facing this issue just recently (few days back). I am start to get this error/notice message when I try to save/apply/close button to any articles & modules, currently.. I am just testing on both section only.

Can anyone help me?

I am suspecting server configuration being change as it is happened after the website received "Server Not Found" error. After contacting the hosting company, teh site get back to normal. Starting from there, when try to update articles, we do received the "The specified URL cannot be found. ".

Note - info on my server & installation.
PHP Built on: Linux ew.embunweb.com 2.6.18-308.1.1.el5 #1 SMP Wed Mar 7 04:16:51 EST 2012 x86_64
Database Version: 5.1.63-cll
Database Collation: utf8_general_ci
PHP Version: 5.3.10
