Stat tracking and https pages

Post by ewhitaker » Mon Dec 29, 2008 7:04 am

I am using Joomla 1.5.7 with virtuemart 1.1.2. I use statcounter.com for tracking on my other sites and would like to implement the code on this particular site, but this site has a shopping cart with secure pages. The code which is given to me from statcounter.com has the tracking script starting with "http" which works great until it hits the secure pages of the site. Then what happens is in IE you get that annoying little popup about whether or not you want to load the unsecure items. The unsecure item is because of the statcounter code starting with "http". If I change the stat tracking script to begin with "https" instead of "http", then it takes forever for the non secure pages to load. Since the tracking script needs to be loaded into the pages right at the end of the pages, I copied the code into the bottom of the default template.

What I am wondering is, if there is a way to use stat tracking software to make it work on both secure and unsecure pages. Is it possible to add some sort of code somewhere so that when Joomla sees a secure page that it would not load the stat tracking script? I really don't need it to load on the secure pages. Perhaps something could be added to the .htaccess file? How does anyone else do this that has a site with both secure and unsecure pages and wants to implement tracking?
