Hi everyone,

I am trying to get my .htaccess rewrites to work but I'm having a little trouble. I tried using the core Search Engine Friendly URL's feature but this messed up some of my links so now I am trying to do the rewrites manually.

In my .htaccess so far I have the following ( I commented out the core Joomla SEF section)

RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9_-]+)$ index.php?option=com_community&view=profile&userid=$1&Itemid=68
RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9_-]+)/$ index.php?option=com_community&view=profile&userid=$1&Itemid=68

RewriteRule ^home index.php?option=com_community&view=frontpage&Itemid=68
RewriteRule ^home/ index.php?option=com_community&view=frontpage&Itemid=68

I've uploaded the file yet my profile and home page do not rewrite to the friendlier URL's?

Anyone have any advice?

Thanks
Colin

Put the core .htaccess back into place, and grab a copy of sh404sef.

I've paid enough already for extensions and addons I don't want to pay for one more which I am pretty sure I can do myself!!

Does anyone have any advice for rewriting your own URL's or an extension which is free?

Side note - These Joomla 3rd party extension/addon/plugin developers must be making a fortune!!

The last FREE release of sh404sef is 1.0.20 Beta build 237, and can be found in various places on the web.
