Restricted access Joomla 1.5.14 - help - what did I do?

I have just finished a site built using Joomla 1.5.14 and was just adding in the Google Analytics tracking code before the <body> tag at the foot of index.php as my final job.

When I pasted in the code and viewed the site however I just had the message 'Restricted Access' on screen.

I can still access the admin area fine.

I tried undoing my changes but still get the error message. I tried a completely new install of an uncustomised index.php file but still get the same message.

I have searched the forum and found lots of advice for people encountering this error having installed a plugin, module, component etc eg accessing PHPmyadmin and uninstalling the item. However, this doesn't really apply to my case and I don't know what I have done wrong. Can anyone help please?

Prior to that the site was working fine!

this may be due to an error in your .htaccess or your server misconfiguration. i'm not sure about it. i had many problems like this before and all it were due to my little mistakes in configuration of some parameters either in joomla or in server. I recommend you to post the url here so that it's easy for us to view the exact error. later if you want you can edit it the post and delete the url after your bug has been fixed

Hello. I can post the url but there is nothing to see as it just says restricted access!

I haven't amended the .htaccess file and the site was working fine until pasting in the Google code so pretty sure it can't be that.

Any ideas anyone?
