Can't log in to Joomla admin

I can no longer log in to the admin side of the site. I have tried resetting the Superadmin password using myPHPadmin, but I still get the "do not match" message when trying to log in. I'm hoping there's a simple answer to this, because there are some important changes that need to be made to the site. Thanks for any suggestions you can make!

Note: I did not build the site, it was built previously by someone else, and they made kind of a Frankenstein of a Joomla site. It is still 1.5, until I have a chance to experiment with upgrading on a backup.

Cannot log into administrator side

Username and password do not match

I have reset the SuperAdmin password using phpMyAdmin, but still get the \"do not match\" message.
