delayed Joomla 1.5 page prompts with Godaddy

Post by edubuff » Wed Apr 02, 2008 2:58 pm

Folks pardon me if the answer happens to be there.. just redirect me if there's one. My head spins now and I cound't find the answer...

Main issue is specific to Godaddy (I have another hosting site and not an issue there), if I log-in as a user in the Joomla 1.5 homepage and I mistakenly put the wrong password, the page will not return any error message.... until about 5-10 minutes later after several page refresh. And when the error appears, it sticks on the screen for about a long as before the error message had appear. I logged a case with Godaddy and 2-3 support staffs said it's Joomla coding problem. I didn't agree with them and replied back with my own view that Godaddy might be using reverse-proxy cache and could be the reason why I don't get a fresh copy of the page whenever I refresh... Hmmm.. maybe I was right until I tried with Drupal (I'm curious and played with it). With drupal 6.1, I tried several times, the page returns error messages and clears instantly at every page refresh... so... maybe there is an answer out there to help me resolve my challenge with Joomla 1.5.

In case you want to see how it behaves, I'll put the links both hosted with GoDaddy deluxe linux shared-hosting... Notice the random images at every page refresh for both Joomla sites - one with GoDaddy and the other with FlexiHostings... Note that all cache settings has been disabled to ensure it's not a caching issue.

I appreciate your time reading and sharing answers. Thanks in advance!

It gives me a feeling that I'm the only one having this issue or the only hosted with GoDaddy. GoDaddy shared-hosters out there, please share your experience. When you log-in as a user in the homepage and put the wrong password or typed non-existent account, do you get the error message instantly?

I've finally solved my issue. It may help solve you issue too. I observed hosting sites behave differently to Joomla's cache setting. Here's what I did:
1. Go to Joomla admin page <http://yoursite/administrator> , log-in and
2. disable all cache settings.. (a) Global Configuration-->System; (b) Extensions-->Plugin Manager-->System Cache
3. clear system cache - Tools-Clean Cache, select all and click Delete
You can experiment with System Cache (under extension ->plugin manager menu). click the plugin and you'll see the browser cache option parameter
