Hi all

I'm hoping that someone can help me out here - I don't know what the problem could be with my site but my newsticker module and accordion plugin will not work properly in IE8. I use FF3 for my default browser and my site displays perfectly using it.

However, in IE8 the newsticker (which is set with a display time of 3 seconds and a tween time of 1.5 seconds) flashes the text up first, then fades the text in and out very slowly - around 30 seconds in total.

Also, with IE8 the accordion plugin, that is configured into an article for my FAQs, does not operate properly. When an article header is clicked for the first time on the newly loaded page, the article expands part way and then freezes for a few second before expanding the rest of the way. When subsequent articles within the accordion are clicked, the article header becomes 'active' but again it takes several seconds for the article to expand.

You can view my FAQ page here: http://www.qpevolution.co.uk/index.php/faq

The newsticker is at the top of this and every other page.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me here....

EDIT: Sorry mods, I've just realised that I posted this in the wrong place - feel free to move it into the extensions forum!

I don't think I'm seeing the same issues as you. I'm using IE 8.0.6001.18702 on Windows XP.

Have you been able to reproduce this in other version of IE8? I wonder if it's just your machine. If you do CTRL+R to reload the page and not use the cache, does that help at all?

Let me know what you find. I would normally ask for a screenshot to see the issues, but since it's all animation issues, you may have to do a screen capture with Jing or something.

Let me know if you still want help.

Hi Will

Thanks for responding to my post.

I've since got IE8 installed on another PC and it works fine. The problematic one was IE8 installed on Windows 7, whereas the one that works fine is IE8 on Vista.

So, now I don't know whether the problem is local to my install configuration or whether the problem is caused by all IE8 installs on Windows 7? The downloads available from Microsoft to install IE8 do not include a Windows 7 version - I tried to install the Vista version on my Windows 7 machine to try to repair my current version (IE8 is included in the Windows 7 installation by default) but the installer says that IE8 is not compatible with Windows 7.

Perhaps the IE8 version that is included in the Windows 7 package contains something that conflicts with my site? Anyhow, I'm a little happier to know that it's not all IE8 installs that have problems!

I do have errors showing up in all IE versions though - I have posted about this seperately here:
viewtopic.php?f=473&t=458023

Maybe this is connected?

With something as new as Windows 7, there are bound to be bugs. Have you checked to see if there are any updates out there that you have not gotten? I'm guessing they are fixing little issues left and right. Unfortunately, no Windows 7 for me for a while so I can't really help test.

I will take a look at your other thread and respond.
