Hi,

I'm still thinking about Joomla! and some big web project. For example project with 100 000 visitors per day and more. Is it good solution to use Joomla! keeping in mind it's performance ? I have some projects with ~2000 visitors per day, so it works perfectly well. But Im not sure about some bigger things.

Can anybody share any expierence with that ? Maybe some examples where people use Joomla! for big sites.

Your answers and help would be appreciated.

It should do it all depends on the hosting more than anything... If you are on a vps or dedicated server then it shouldnt be a problem at all but if your on shared hosting plan where alot of the resources are being used up by many other users aswell it will slow everyone down including your site... Ive got 34 joomla sites on a VPS and 2 of the sites are hitting around 10,000 to 15,000 hits a day with no performance issues... Best thing to do is try it and see if it is slow then try VPS...

Hope this helps...

I can think of one probable site, your friendly neighbourhood http://joomla.org main site and sub domains :). In the final analysis though as skooki indicated, your server or hosting account resources will have the greater influence on your site's performance.

What about load balancing ? Should this be implemented in server hardware/software ?

Joomla! supports load balancing and since there are so many benefits associated with implementing this solution, then if you are in a position do so, you definitely should.
