I have a website on the host one.com. The pages are all looking fine.
But when I put the site on localhost the fonts are larger and screwing up the nice look.
The content are exactly the same at both hosts.
The template is RocketTheme Meridian.

http://comprog.se/tmp/fontsize.jpg

The picture shows part at left is on localhost, on the right at webhost (nice).

What can be the problem?

Hey Ralph,

I get an error when I go to the link you posted. If you can repost it, I can take a look.

As far as I know, the styles shouldn't really change from localhost to a live site. My initial guess is that it's possible a stylesheet isn't being included properly. Most browsers have a way to inspect your HTML. I would try this on both sites and see if you can find what is causing the difference in font size:

Let me know if you have more questions.

Hey wlrdq!

Thank's a lot but now it works fine. I took a fresh backup from the webhotel and installed it on localhost. It seems to be exactly the same now. I think that I was experimenting too much that some mistakes were done.

Sorry about the link, I deleted the entire site for maintenence purpose and the folder tmp was gone.

Now everything seems ok, by the way link to the site under development:
http://comprog.se/pp/

It is an architect firm here in Sweden.

Regards,
Ralph

Cool. As long as you got it fixed.

That's a really great looking site. Those images are amazing!

Thanks a lot Will!

Well, the truth is that I can not take credit for either the site design or the pic's because I have done a conversion from a conventional, dreamweaver site, to Joomla! 1.5.

The only thing I am not satisfied with still is the menu, because I had to put it absolute positioned. I could not figure out how to get it there otherwise. I am lacking the proper skill for CSS and div's yet.

You know, the customer payed about $8,500 for the site a year ago and since then they payed the consult almost $2 800 for three small adjustments. :o So, they need CMS of course.
I think there is a great market for old websites to be converted out there!

If you like you can have a look at their original: http://www.pparkitekter.se for comparison, also updated: http://www.comprog.se/pp

But I have made a, I think, good lookalike and with good functionality,

And yes, I have been using Web Developer Toolbar a long time back, really great tool. It is especially good for me as I do a lot of adjustments in templates to fit the customers needs.

Have a nice day,
Ralph

I would try moving the menu to a different template position and seeing if that helps. I can't really tell what position it is in now with the absolute positioning. You can see all the template positions by adding tp=1 to your query string:
http://www.comprog.se/pp/?tp=1

If that still doesn't do what you need, you may at least be able to use relative position within that template position or margin/padding or float right to shift it around.

Let me know how it goes.

I have succeeded to make the page exactly what I wanted! It is really well functioning now and very look-alike the customers original.

I have moved my project here: http://bohuswines.se/pp
And the original: http://www.pparkitekter.se

I am so satisfied. I added offset to the relative positioning for the menu, works very good.
{padding: 0;position: relative; left: -30px;top:80px;z-index:120;height: 2px;float: right;}
So, you don't have to try putting the menu in other template locations.
Had to adjust some div's with width's and like. But now the site should adjust perfect to any size. Have not checked with IE6 but I don't care. It works well with IE7 and IE8.
