Hello everyone.

I'am using joomla for all my sites and this newer occured.

The problem:
My joomla site crashed the database few times (I think three) in few weeks and the administrator blocked the site in response. My site did crash the serwer so it is understandable. I don't really know what is the problem and what it is causing it because the site worked fine for almost a year.

The clues I have:
One day I was writing an article on my site and didn't save it. I know that some time later the database crashed. Serwer admin gave me this images of database queries.
http://www.swiatlem-malowane.info/temp/database/databasescreen1.JPG
http://www.swiatlem-malowane.info/temp/database/databasescreen2.JPG
The second image has the problematic query ticked.

Before the problems I installed kunena forum, one small module and updated joomla to 1.5.14 and also activated the pool module. I think the problems occured few weeks later.

I have a test serwer and copied the files and database od the corrupted copy. I tried everything but my site didn't crash. However thera are some differencs in the serwers: the test serwer doesn't have gzip and sh404sef enabled.

Meybe gzip or rewriting url's are causing problems in kunena or so?

How can I solve this? I know I could install joomla again and the problem is that probably the files are corrupted. But why if not? When I reinstall joomla and other components the files might get corrupted also.

Every help is very appreciated.

Try to increase the amount of memory allocated to mySQL.

Wish I could but this is a shared hosting and I don't have such option. Do You suggest it could be that joomla generates too much database queries? I checked what it looks like and the values are:

on the front page and articles: about 30
forum: 65-75.

After I enable the cache it drops about 5 to 10. The front 22, forum 65.

Don't think theese values are much but I remember I did disable the cacheing before the problems occured. With cache enabled after a user logged out he/she could see themselves logged in...

I have a phpBB3 forum running on the same serwer (about 200 users) and I know phpBB3 is really heavy but I don't have such problems.

There's also one thing: the problems occured probably in time of the heaviest traffic on the site (20 to 30 users) but my hosting provider claims that database queries are unlimited.

Ofcourse it could be the hosting provider but if I drop my database queries more it's bound to happen again for example with 50+ users.

Any ideas? Thanks for the help ksandven.

I just experienced the same thing myself and had to adjust the memory allocated to mySQL and to PHP.
The caching problem with users seeing themselves logged in sounds strange. Have you set the login module to cache:never?

I have CB and I don't see in cb-login the cache. The cache in who is online is set to never.

I think I should try with another hosting provider to see if my site will work there.

Hey 301yutredo. Not even close to seriuos I think - 40 users online at most (in the evenings here) and 100 a day (average).

In a matter of days I will install the site on another host so I will see if it is the issue.

Thanks for the reply.
