Hey all

The last few days I've been searching for a way to refresh my page cache (system plugin) fast so that ANY page on the site when accessed for the first time is served updated content from ultra fast cache.

Right now with joomla, even with all caches enabled and configured, when a page has expired, the first visitor will get the cold-start delay (the server has to build the new and updated cache before it serves it)
and that's unacceptable if your site doesn't get a lot of visitors but you update often (as is the case with any new News site for example), you end up with no gains from caching, maybe even some hurts.

After a lot of searching I found this little firefox plugin that comes as close as it gets, it is basically a crawler https://addons.mozilla.org/el/firefox/addon/foxyspider/

Clear your joomla page cache after any change (you can even target which pages cache you wanna clear if you use Jotcache http://www.kanich.net/radio/site/jotcache/download instead of the standart joomla system-cache plugin) point foxyspider to your dynamically updated xmap sitemap and 1000 pages will have fresh cache in 20-40 mins depending on the site.

Just thought I should share that will all of you and maybe get some positive ideas on the matter of

WARM CACHE IN JOOMLA

FFS!!!!

By the way.... I also found this http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/warm-cache/
, which is apparently one of many wordpress plugins that refresh page cache.

If only joomla could have that code.......sigh.......

Maybe I'm lucky and a joomla PHP expert from the forum could take a look at that wp plugin and retro fit it for joomla, it's only 1-2 files 500 lines max.....

any1 interested?

I'll be the first to buy it

edit:

If any1 does write that code, keep in mind to make the plugin's crawler register itself as any user agent (1 or many) according to user choice, because of mobile templates, IE templates and such (jotcache and other caches can generate different cache for different browsers)
