FaLang translation system by Faboba.

The best way is to buy the component. :)

PROBLEM:
I appear to be having an issue with the URL redirection. For instance, I have created translations for:

.../index.php/en/services-en

clicking the FaLang flag, I get redirected to

... /index.php/ru/services-en

The alias I had set for this page, however, was supposed to be:

cccs-services-ru.

CONTEXT:

I notice that my webpage Alias is originally 'cccs-services', though when I actually navigate to that page I see 'services-en' (the menu alias). I have translated my menu, but still this re-direct isn't working.

Any ideas what is going on or how to solve?

Thanks!

Where did you set the alias? The only place to do this, as I understand, is in the translations.

Hi!
Thanks for this great great component and also thanks to DarkBalze for PhocaGallery content elements!
Everything is going fine with phocagallery and falang, but there's a problem with the urls translation.
I'm using J! 2.5.6, FaLang 1.1.6, PhocaGallery 3.2.1 and on my website I have two languages, ro and en. When I go on EN the content is being translated but the url for phocagallery is not translated, not all the url - the name of the picture is translated, but the menu item and category is not.
When I add Artio JoomSEF 4.2.8 things changes a bit and the translated picture name disappear. So, with artio the whole url is not being translate.

I'm sure I've translated the aliases in FaLang, so the problem is somewhere else. What should it be? Maybe is a bug from FaLang or with the content elements... I don't know.

Thanks in advance!

SOLVED - an upgrade for PhocaGallery extension for JoomSEF solved the problem.

Great extension and working fine!

Am I missing something obvious to turn it on?

Any solution for this???

Well for starts, learn how Joomla works but and also some basics if you're using a local server... I doubt you have a "tmp" folder in your wamp's "www" folder.... And if you do, then the ending slash of the "tmp" folder is wrong anyway.... It should be something like "C:\wamp\www/tmp"... :pop

Hi Stephane,

I have installed Falang 1.1.6 locally on Joomla 2.5.6.
I have made a mistake while configuring FaLang.
I tried to remove the installed package but it still appear in Extension Manager (Manage). The files are no longer in the directory.
When I try to install a new package of FaLang I got the message:

''Component Install: DB function reports no errors
Package Install: There was an error installing an extension: com_falang_113.zip
Error installing package''

When I try to uninstall previous version in Extension manager I got:

'' JFolder: :files: Path is not a folder. Path: C:\xampp-win32-1.8.0-VC9\xampp\htdocs\aiemont\administrator\components\com_falang
JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file

JFolder: :delete: Path is not a folder. Path: C:\xampp-win32-1.8.0-VC9\xampp\htdocs\aiemont\components\com_falang
Component Uninstall: Can't uninstall. Please remove manually''

What can I do to reinstall Falang properly?
Thanx in advance

I have unzip the package and copy paste the component files in the directories (administrator and component) before uninstall it with extension manager and it works. I have made a new installation.
I hope i will do a better job by configuring FaLang now

Thanx

Hi Stephane,
Thank you for your component.
I'm running FaLang 1.1.6 on Joomla 2.5.6
I've follow the instruction on Faboba website and installed Joomla Language pack (french and espagnol). In Language Manager, I've switched default language from english to french (installed-site) since the content is in french (but I've made Joomla 2.5.6 installation in english)
I've made a good configuration so far
But since I've installed FaLang, most of the image and the top menu of my website have disapeared or is in a broken mode.
Can you help? :-\
Thanks

Hi Stephane,

Thanks for the great component!

I've installed the search plug-in and was able to search in the translated articles. However, I'm still unable to search within K2 translated contents.

Please advise.

Hi folks,

I have a question please.

Is it possible to use both Falang and Joomla core in the same time on the same site?

Best regards,
Thank you

Hi, I need some help. I have a category blog layout in use and I have the article settings with read more selected and read more limit in use (200). However it won't work on my non-default languages, default language is fine. All of the translations seem to appear correctly (except for the alias, it won't seem to work without another extension so it will have to wait). Is there some setting that I forgot or how to have article parameters applied to all languages? Now if I select a non-default language and go to that category blog layout page it just displays all of the article not the beginning of it. I tried looking into the falang but didn't find the read more part anywhere.

So background info: Joomla 2.5.6 and Falang 1.1.6 and I'm building the site on localhost with XAMPP (and all of my plugins are enabled if you were wondering).

Edit: I managed to find what was not happening. Fixed it by manually adding the read more tag into every translated article as it turns out it won't add it to the already translated articles. It would be good if there was an option for the translated articles to have the read more tag to be set after character limit.

I get the following error when I enable Falang's database plugin:

Any idea what it's about? Your assistance is much appreciated!

How does this thread work. It seems rather chaotic to me, with all kinds of topics being thrown in without being followed up or getting answers. Can somebody clarify how it works and how to get assistance to your issues? Is there any other means of support for Falang?

Thanks!

Hi, I installed falang for an English-Spanish site. Evrerything was working fine until I started translated the menus items. The thing is that falang doesn't translate the menu alias. Looking on the web I found a solution for that, I just added the route field to the menu content element but that got me into another issue, when I switch languege the language switcher redirects to home page because the URL it had to redirect to had the menu route translated into the current languege. For instance, if I'm on an article page , the english URL would be http://mysite/articles/articlename-id and if I switch language the URL has to be http://mysite/articulos/nombredelarticulo-id but the language switcher redirects to http://mysite/articles/nombredelarticulo-id. Is there any workaround that.

I am using Joomla 2.5.6 and have installed FaLang 1.1.6..everything went right untill I click on a language switcher flag and nothing happens..if I write directly in URL language tag(/en/ or /it/) the page shows right.. somehow there is no connection between flags and URL.. I've done everything what is said on this page http://www.faboba.com/en/composants/fal ... ation.html :geek: ! Does anyone know what could be my problem?! ??? :'(

Thank you very much for your answer!

Hi there people,

so here is my problem. Last night I went to this website and what I saw was this:

Image

I tried to switch through langs but only the search field was changing. Nothing else. There where a few images that where missing too but I fixed that manually by relocating them. Is there any chance that all this trouble caused by FaLang?

Hope to get an answer!

King regards

Hi,

I'm using Falang and it's working quite welll. However, I wanted my site to have 3 languages besides the original one. Two of the "foreign" languages work fine, but the third doesn't show anything, not even the flag to choose. (I have checked and all the data in menus annd in the language config are the same as the other two languages.
Is there any limit of languages in the free version?

Thanks
Pedro
