Re: SEF extensions (JoomSEF and OpenSEF patch)
Hi
What do you recommend me to use? JoomSEF or OpenSEF with your patch? I need Joomfish on my website.
Why do the makers of JoomSEF offer a patch for OpenSEF?
Thanks and regards - Oliver

Re: SEF extensions (JoomSEF and OpenSEF patch)
Hello,
we developed the OpenSEF patch, because one of our customers was using it and asked us to do so. However he also already switched to JoomSEF.
From our point of view, we of course encourage you to use JoomSEF, because we have plans to maintain and develop it further. On the other hand our activity with OpenSEF probably ends with the published patch, if there aew no further requests.
From my personal point of view and experience, OpenSEF has some extra tools and features, but those can be mostly made also with other modules (e.g. generating Google sitemap -- you may use Joomap for that). Also, the way the URLs are generated in OpenSEF was not suitable for us. Furthermore, as regards SEF itself, I think JoomSEF works better with "average" modules and for the more complicated ones (e.g. VirtueMart), you need a speciel extension anyway for both component (JoomSEF or OpenSEF).
So based on our own experience and needs (with differend Joomla! project), the original 404SEFx (which JoomSEF comes from) suited much better to our needs and that is also why we decided to make a JoomFish patch for that one first and then take it over at all.
That is all I can write to this topic. Just ask if you have some more questions.
Best regards,
Michal

Re: SEF extensions (JoomSEF and OpenSEF patch)
I'm using JoomlSEF now and it works very well. It was easy to install and I have not problem with my components.
But there is one thing, my Anchors doesn't work well anymore. Can I do anything to solve this problem?
Regards - Oliver

Re: SEF extensions (JoomSEF and OpenSEF patch)
The anchor problem is probably a Joomla core SEF problem.
No problem that the Joomla SEF Expert (Saka) completely missed this issue!
Fixed in J 1.0.11.
