MosCom 0.8.1x is released!

The highlight of this new release are:
. Several bug fixes
. Add feature to remember your config preference when upgrade
. Changes and add more new CSS code
. Optimize code to be more efficient and remove lot of hard coding

Note: Please make sure to download the MosComBot 0.8 to work with MosCom 0.8+

MosCom is a comments component for Mambo and Joomla. It is a rewrite of Phil's Combo script to work with Mambo 4.5.2+ and Joomla 1.0 and 1.5. It allows visitors to comment on content items within Mambo. This script is used at opensourceCMS.com allowing visitors to leave comments regarding content management systems.

Note: By the popular request MosCom is now has a MosComBot to display comment on the frontpage.  MosComBot is a separate download and separate install as a bot.  Please do not remove the copyright without contacting me first.  Any donation$ would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Features:
. Companion MosComBot mambot to show comment link on frontpage
. Compatible with Mambo 4.5.2 or above and Joomla 1.0 and 1.5 (w/ legacy mode)
. Compatible with PHP 4 and 5, global off and global emulation off
. Complete admin area to monitor, edit and delete comments as necessary.
. Languages support: English, French, Rusian, Dutch, Spanish, Portugese, German, De., Arabic, Polish, Italian, Swedish, Croatian, Turkish
. If you use mambelfish and set the language preference and assuming you have the correct language translation file in this fomrat "english.php" for English.

. Spam protection:
+ Use phpInputFilter and mysql escape to filter input from comment form
+ Send popup after preview message submitted

. Backend featues:
+ Admin can hold comments for approval
+ Highly configurable through point and click admin interface
+ Email to be set to require or optional
+ Exclude section list eg: 0 for static content
+ Exclude content list to selectively not show comment form
+ Remember your config preference when upgrade

. Frontend featues:
+ Hides visitors email from spam bots
+ Visitor or member can leave comment on a article
+ Vistor URL field can be disable by the site admin
+ Ability to page previous or next of comments w/ setable number of comments per page
+ Ability to skin comment by using css in template down to detail of meta data, see post-install intruction for sample code
+ Customizable comment title, etc via language file using _COM_C_ADD_COM, _COM_C_ADD_COM2 and _COM_C_HOMEURL.
+ Comments sorting: new entries first or new entries last
+ Form position: Behind comments or Above comments
+ BBcode support in comment
+ Use time offset from configuration when show comment
+ Change and add more CSS code to have finer customization of comment form

Note: translation for MosCom:
. You can create you own translation file by copy "english.php" and create your language translation file. For example: "spanish.php" please make sure the file name matches your mambo language name.
. Once you have the translation file in place and when you set the language preference in mambelfish then MosCom will use your translation file to display the comment in your language. Please consider share you translation file once you are happy with your work. Thanks for sharing.!

Thank you for producing such an easy to use, install and configure comment system.  I tried two others without luck.  Yours worked the first time and I like the layout very much.  Your hard work definitely paid off.  If anyone is considering a comment system for Joomla I'd suggest this one.

Does this work with other 3rd party products .. for example  EventList
I tried all the possible comment systems and yielded no result..

MosCom is a commenting for content so as long as there is an article id to associate the comment with then it should work but without an article id then it will not.

Thanks for your reply..
a standard article id would be: option=com_content&task=view&id=16&Itemid=9
and the artistAvenue component generates: option=com_artistavenue&task=singleArtist&id=8&Itemid=34

Only difference in generation would be from task=view to task=randomCompotantTag
And as a result, the component is not able to read as the task has changed.. so it goes to some other article which has an id=10 and task=view but not from the artistavnue component.

So how to fix this!! Please shade some light!

MosCom currently using some depreciated variable and will be remove in future version. If you are interested I can send you my development code to see if that will work out better for you.

I am asking if you would be interest on testing out the new code as I develop them since it might solve the problem that you are seeking or if not I can fix it if you tell me the specific issue on my development code.
