Re: Joomla and osCommerce Bridge v1.0.4
Some interesting news for everyone - it looks like osCommerce development isn't dead after all - osCommerce v3.0 Alpha 3 has just been released. Presumably it will only be another 6 months until a Beta arrives, and then it's just a short 12 years before 3.0 final is out.
Also, The Joomla bridge project that this thread discusses doesn't appear to have been updated in over a year. They must be taking cues from the original osCommerce creators...

Re: Joomla and osCommerce Bridge v1.0.4
I am trying to "wrapper" my head around how this is evey remotely useable due to the fact that search engines can not spider the store at all through the wrapper.
Is there any magic method of getting SEF URLs working with this while in a wrapper ?
With out unique product page URL's this is pretty much useless.

Re: Joomla and osCommerce Bridge v1.0.4
Hello
thx very much for this interesting bridge.
I got it installed but I have a problem.
I can register in OsCommerce and logged in then in joomla as you explained. It works.
but I cant directly access to Osc from Joomla. I guess I did something wrong.
You explain in the doc
*****
Using the Menu Manager add a menu for the osc_bridge component and use that for entering your store. The
osc_bridge component will call the wrapper using the link you configured into the component in Step 5.
*****
I created a new menu item by chosing component and then choosing the bridge component. But in joomla front site if I click on this Oscommerce link I got a blank page and this adress : "http://www2.(xxxxxx).com/joomla/index.php?option=com_oscbridge&Itemid=31"
dont know whats happening.
Thx by advance

Re: Joomla and osCommerce Bridge v1.0.4
I have reached step 5 in the bridge documentation which requires me to configure the com_oscbridge; however, when I go to component menu, I do not see the component anywhere, even though it is installed (I verified that it was installed by looking in the components folder). Any thoughts?

Re: Joomla and osCommerce Bridge v1.0.4
step 5.1 still doesnt make any sense at all
"Using the Menu Manager add a menu for the osc_bridge component and use that for entering your store. The osc_bridge component will call the wrapper using the link you configured into the component in Step 5."
Using the Menu Manager add a menu for the osc_bridge get stuck here

Re: Joomla and osCommerce Bridge v1.0.4
I have a site using Joomla & the oscommerce bridge but some time ago the Paypal IPN stopped working because paypal won't accept payments from sites in frames - because oscommerce runs in a wrapper in Joomla which is frame-based.
Has anybody else encountered this problem? If so is there a workaround or a means of resolving this issue?
Would be very grateful for any assistance.
Kind Regards,
Paulie...

Re: Joomla and osCommerce Bridge v1.0.4
I've same problem. I tried joomla version 1.0.12 & 1.0.13 with oscommerce 2.2 rc1. Any suggestion. Thank you.webdevelopex wrote: hi there,
i had followed the instruction from this installation guilde http://www.seismicos.com/content/view/48/41/
everything seem works fine! i can click on the register and show the jos_create_account.php from osCommerce.
after i've done the registration. i can use the same username and password to login Joomla, it works
...however, when i click on osCommerce wrapper. it still appears as a guest. meaning that i have to relogin and using email address for osCommerce
i have a few questions to ask.
1.i'm using Joomla-1.0.9 and osCommerce 2.2, Bridge v1.0.4
will this cause conflict? that's why the problem occurs?
2. i checked the hash_lookup table. i found that it was empty. Suppose it has an Osc_Id after login, but it was nothing. I guess the OsCommerce jos_index.php is using this ID to check the login status from Joomla. it has nothing, that's why i could not login OsCommerce after login joomla. I guess it is the main issue.
anyone here can help me resolve my question above? thanks

Re: Joomla and osCommerce Bridge v1.0.4
Hi there,
I followed all the instructions on the .pdf README file that comes with the bridge package. The only problem I am getting so far, is when I:
1) first create the wrapper menu for jos_index.php
2) go into the com_oscbridge and set up the different paths
3) Create the oscommerce component menu
After completing the steps above I get the following error:
Not Found
The requested URL /main/&op= was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.39 Server at -------------------.com Port 80
Can anyone help?

Re: Joomla and osCommerce Bridge v1.0.4
It's a version bug when you open oscommerce bridge component to edit & then edit it or close it then it removes all three values to nil. If you really want to use it only solution is left to you is to edit oscommerce configuration file manual & upload via ftp & never open oscommerce bridge bridge in joomla admin again. Thanks!!!

Re: Joomla and osCommerce Bridge v1.0.4
Thanks,
Last questions (hopefully)
1) Which version does the bridge work properly on?
2) It appeared that only the 'oscbridge/php' file was the only thing installed on the server, so I jad to ftp the other files including the config.oscbridge.php edited file. However, after doing this, how do I set the new menu link to point to the osc component which contains the wrapper?
Thanks again sir

Re: Joomla and osCommerce Bridge v1.0.4
make a component menu & choose com_osbridge component. It's not developed further after joomla version 1.0.03 so it has login problem in other versions. When you close shoping cart you are logged out of joomla also. I solved it as opening shopping cart in new window.

Re: Joomla and osCommerce Bridge v1.0.4
Yeah, that ii the issue; because when I created them component menu, I get the orignal error that I started with, even after I made the fixes to the config.oscbridge file.
e.g.: http://lizmannette.com/main/, in the navigation menu on top, the last SHOP link, is the component menu and the SHOP before it is the wrapper menu... only the wrapper works seems to work but I do not think it is utilizing the bridge. You have been very helpful, is there anything else you or anyonecan suggest? I do not want to go back to a past version just to facilitate the bridge.

It seems you have not followed all instructions & changed wrapper id in all package files. Check procedure again & fix mistake.

Re: Joomla and osCommerce Bridge v1.0.4
I'm getting this error:
Any ideas why it is looking in the oscommerce db for joomla tables? I thought it was just a hashed synchronization table that was inserted into the oscommerce db. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Joomla 1.0.12
OSC 2.2 RC1
Code: Select all
1146 - Table 'oscommerce.jos_users' doesn't exist
SELECT * FROM jos_users WHERE username = 'anyone'
Joomla 1.0.12
OSC 2.2 RC1

Re: Joomla and osCommerce Bridge v1.0.4
It seems there's some mistake in installing patch for bridge, I mean transferring files to properplace. Mine this bridge is working properly in joomla ver. 1.0.13.

Re: Joomla and osCommerce Bridge v1.0.4
Thanks for your speedy reply... I'm not sure what went wrong, because everything else seems to work correctly, and it is looking in the oscommerce db for the jos_users table which is not default behavior. Is it possible that there is a configuration file to change to get it to query the correct db?nkakwani wrote: It seems there's some mistake in installing patch for bridge, I mean transferring files to properplace. Re: Joomla and osCommerce Bridge v1.0.4
I finally got it... Thanks for your help. I must have somehow missed the instruction that said both Joomla & OSC *must* be installed in the same database. I synched the two databases, (by dumping one, and then modifying the dump file to insert into a different db) modified the configuration file, and now it works great!

Re: Joomla and osCommerce Bridge v1.0.4
Oh, instruction says it clearly to be in same datbase also some understanding of database says that if it's different database then can't be linked as we will write one time on one database or you have to change all joomla & oscommerce files to write in new database, so I never thought that you can do such mistake.
Never mind I also make some time foolish mistakes afterall I think you are also human like me not a god!!!

You should search google. It's very hard to find that page. I don't remeber it. It's an old page not updated.
