Whats new in this version:
+ Added 'Notify Authors about comments on their Articles' option to allow email notifications of Authors of Articles (and of Comments).
+ Added extension-independent interface (Joomla! event) to allow subscription on notifications per Author.
+ Added 'Content Subscription - Acajoom' plugin that implements subscribtion interface for "Acajoom News v.4.1.3" Joomla! extension. Thanks to "lemur1" for providing the idea and code for integration with Acajoom.
+ yvComment project SVN repository created at JoomlaCode to simplify developers collaboration.

Hello!
Thanks for your great job!
Here is the italian language .ini updated to the latest 1.23.000 yvcomment version.
Hope this helps your project ;)

Alberto

Thank you, Alberto,
I've updated Italian translation at SVN (and will package it soon...).
BTW, Translators may now update their translations directly in yvComment's SVN ("infobase" already did it ;) )!

Yuri, does that mean that with the release of Joomla! 1.6, development on will cease? I sincerely hope not.

I don't believe one commenting system may be good for everybody. Especially while yvComment has some unique architectural features that not only are not implemented in other commenting systems, but are rejected by them (e.g. Using content table for comments...)

The weak side of yvComment is it is primarily a single developer's product... yet,
but, on the other hand, Joomla! core team is also relatively small...
I hope now, as yvComment have SVN repository and team work became much easier, new developers with new ideas will come here.
Anyway, yvComment is not an alternative way for Joomla! users - it's rather an opening of Joomla! native hidden (or missed) possibilities... i think :)

I use both, and integrated both with a simple plugin I made myself, 1 point for the commenter, 1 point for the article author.

I can send you the files.

Hi maiconmm, may you contribute your plugin to the public?

Hello yvolk,

Thank you for an excellent plugin.

Searching through the various posts, there does seem to be a problem with the smileys.

Unfortunately, if I "Enable smiley replacements for the whole page", then I get smileys in inappropriate places, which are sometimes caused by other plugins doing their work.

If I disable it, and instead "Enable Smileys for the text of Articles", then the smileys don't work at all!

Is there any way to enable smileys for the comments and not for anywhere else? It would make a fantastic plugin even better.

*** EDIT ***
I found the solution in your answer to another post:
viewtopic.php?p=1212126#p1212126

Thank you again.

Hi,

I have just started to experiment with this Plugin and think it is excellent.

I have one question please and that is how do I remove the small link to yvComment at the bottom of the page. (I have made a donation to you as suggested)

Many thanks - Adrian

Hello, I am trying to implement yvcomment, and I have three questions:

How can I make the comment box smaller (4 or 5 rows instead of 8)?
How can I make them list oldest first instead of newest first?
How do I change the date format from "Friday, 11 September 2009" to "Friday, September 11, 2009"?

I can't find these in the code. Thank you!

Hi!
I´ve installed and configured the CB plugin as said on your web-page (also edited the authortab.php file)
Now I get the following error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '.' in /home/gogocom1/public_html/gomezolivera.com.ar/joomla/components/com_comprofiler/plugin/user/plug_cbmamboauthortab/cb.authortab.php on line 47

Any idea of what is wrong?
Thanks
Cecilia

As you wrote you edited the authortab.php
Look there in line 46 or 47 - you have made an error there (thats what the message says).

I tried to activate the subscription emails for the author. But it doesn't work :-\

I installed the Acajoom News plugin, created a list (the listid was 1)
I installed the content subscription plugin, entered the listid
I activated the Acajoom News component
I activated "notify authors" in the yv Plugin Parameters

Added comments to an article, but nothin happens :'(

I tried sending a newsletter with Acajoom, that at least worked :laugh:

Can you help me?

SOLVED
I still had yvComment 1.22 installed *GRRRRRRRRRRRR*

Hi holbrow, see below
holbrow wrote:

in 'components/com_yvcomment/views/comment/tmpl/default.php':
Code:
<textarea rows='8' cols='40' name='text' class='inputbox' style='width: 98%'

holbrow wrote:

See 'Parameters of yvComment plugin, 'Primary order'
holbrow wrote:

The same as for the whole Joomla! site...
The code is e.g. in 'components/com_yvcomment/views/listofcomments/tmpl/default.php':
Code:
<?php echo JHTML::Date($item->created, $this->params->get('date_format')); ?>

This means that you didn't install yvComment Component
(I'll repair the error report in the next release of yvComment...)

Hi

In order to improve readability of the comments, is it possible to have the gradient background appear in alternating posts, for example every odd number? I am looking for something like this forum here where posts appear alternatively in white and light blue coloured boxes.

I just installed the newest version of yvComment and am setting it up. I keep getting a message that says "Warning! Your version of Joomla! is not up-to-date." This is not true, as I am on version 1.59.

What gives?

YvComment is not wrong! You'd better check you joomla! Now the newest is 1.5.14.

You are right! I am very sorry. I installed it and ignored the errors. Added some comments and it has caused a HUGE problem with my site that I cannot undo. Needless to say I am glad it is on the development site. I uninstalled yvComment and am restoring the database and upgradeing joomla right now. I HOPE it will turn back the clock and be OK. It takes hours to rebuild this dev site!

hello my friends!

something very very strange happened to me today!!!
i couldn't believe that could be something like that but i re-produced the error many times so here it goes...

- I had both "yvcomment" and "alpha content" installed to my joomla

- when i uninstalled "yvcomment" then the "alpha content" component could not work (broken page - no modules - Chinese like characters etc)

- i then reinstalled "yvcomment" and when i enabled the content plugin then "alpha content" start working again normally!

** I never use "yvcomment" to comment "alpha content" articles
** never did a hack to any of these components

i know this is very strange but believe me is true (can reproduce it any time)

Both components are "content" based components .... and i guess yvcomment content plugin is breaking something when off of uninstall .

please can you think of any solution???
thanks you very much

It looks like "alpha content" depends on yvComment. The question "How this may be possible?" should be addressed to the "alpha content" forum.

Hi, Yiri,

In version 1.24 with Acajoom
I get 2 Mails on each comment on comment :-((.
For a comment on an article I get only 1 Mail (as expected :-)).

I have changed in function _NotifyAddEdit' false to true at the line:
$debug = false;
but I don't see any messages about mails.

What does "Debugging mode" = Yes by Content Subscription - Acajoom, please?

There is also "_debug". Does it generate an output in a log file? Where is this file?

Thanks.

Hi!
I've just tested the same again and I do see lots of messages in a case $debug = true; in that _NotifyAddEdit function, see html file attached.
Maybe your template doesn't show them? - Try to switch to Joomla! built-in template...

You may also duplicate the same output in the standard PHP error log or to the email... (You have to configure PHP to log errors to file...) using PHP error_log function. - Please insert after every '$mainframe->enqueueMessage' call the call to this function. Something like this:
---
error_log($message);
---
lemur1 wrote:

The setting turns on some reporting using the same as above calls to Joomla's '$mainframe->enqueueMessage' function.

No

Hi, Yuri,

thank you very much, you was right - my kollege changed the template :-((.
----

With
Code:
  $ debug = true;
i have got the message
Quote:
yvComment mail notification:
"2" repicients found
Recipient: 118 - is subscribed
Recipient: 63 - is current user - do not notify

now I can describe the bug.

63 is the author of the article ;
118 gave a comment to the article ;
63 gave a comment to this comment .

In this situation
count ($ RecipientIDs) = 2! (line 645)

you test (in line 661):
elseif ($ RecipientID == $ userID) (
... / / Do not notify current user if he is in the list of recipients
)

but somehow Recipient 118 receives two same emails (with interval about 5 minuts).

Can you check and fix it, please?

Leon

Your report doesn't show, that yvComment generates notification twice.
I think you have to debug your mail server: turn on logging to see, when messages were received from sender and when they were sent to the recipient...
