As I look now (using borh MSIE 7.0 and Firefox 3.5), everything is Ok:
1. position of commment is below the article
2. comment is shown for the first link only.

Maybe, your cache gave you that effect!? :-\

Nope, I'm still getting it using firefox, ie, and chrome on different computers. It says the subject of the comment posted above the title of the article on all of the articles. I had a feeling it wasn't yvcomment, i'm still not 100% but if you don't see it, it could be the styling. i'll take a look. let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks for the quick response!

Oh, now I see it: the subject of the comment (with a link) is shown above the article! I looked into the HTML code, and I see that the link is in some "lastest news" module. ;)
- this is why the link is on every page.

Hi, t0th!
One of possible reasons for this is this:
Comments on "Articles" of "Comments" Section and/or Category are not enabled.
To fix this:
"List of Sections IDs of Articles which may, or may not, contain comments" and "List of Categories IDs of Articles which may, or may not, contain comments" options
if they are not empty
should contain ID of "Comments" Section (and/or "Comments" Category)...

yvComment treats Comments the same way as articles,
so "Commenting on Comment" is like "Commenting on Article of "Comment type"" :)
So my advice in previous message is relevant.

Please read documentation on the Homepage for more info...

Hello!

I am converting a Wordpress website to Joomla, and I would like to know if your yvComments can import Wordpress comments.

Please let me know how to accomplish this.

Thank you!

Hi Yuri,

Google Webmaster Tools show that my site has many 404 error and unfortunately most of them are related to YvComment articles.

I use 1.23 Yvcomment version, Joomla 1.5.14, SEF On, Caches On.

I hope you know the reason and have your solution.

Thank you once again for this component.

Hi Yuri,

I love the extension. I'm having a problem limiting the number of comments that are appearing on the frontpage. I have messed with all the limit settings that I can find in the control panel and am wondering if I need to edit the php. If so is there just some limit I can change in the code?

The site is http://www.insidethetube.com as you can see I'm using it to output recent comments on the frontpage, everything else is working great.

thanks,

matt

Hi matt,
There is a 'Count' option in the yvComment module. So if you want to show only limited number of comments on some page (e.g. Frontpage), put yvComment module on that page and set the Count option...

PS: I will see, maybe I should add the same "Count" option to the "yvComment Menu Item Types" also...

Hi Yuri,

404 error report again:

I've tried changing all the variation in Yvcomment plugins. Any time I set "Use designated Section and Category for comments" to Yes, it will cause the 404 errors in the links to comments.

I changed it back to Yes, the 404 errors disapear but the full url is not stable, for example:

I comment C on Article1 of CategoryA SectionB, I think the right url will be:

http//mysite.com/sectionB/Article1/commentC.

But when I replace /sectionB/ in the url to any other section (like http//mysite.com/sectionZ/article1/commentC), the link still works and will make duplicated content.

My site is 1.15.14, SEF On, Rewrite On, Cache On.

Could you please take note to my report and find the way to solve it.

Thank you!

Hi hoanta, please see my reply to some close question about URLs of Comments:
Quote:
to see comment as an article in proper "path" you should create new menu item (of "section blog" type ...).
So Joomla will find the right path... (this menu item itself maybe hidden....)

Another problem may be with Joomla! cache: I think that this is obvious behavior of Joomla! cache to give you 404 errors when something in SEF/rewrite etc. changes...
So you have to clear cache somehow after every change...

Yuri,

I switched it over to the module now, I was using the menu item but since it doesn't have a count this works great. One problem I'm having now is the width of the output. It isn't full width where can I change this is it a yvcomment or joomla front page thing?

matt

Thank you Yuri.

Yes, now I may think mod-rewrite ON is the error maker in this case (set "Use designated Section and Category for comments" to Yes).

This broken url is rewritten by Mod-Rewrite:
http//mysite.com/component/content/article/36-comment/591-commentxxx

36-comment is the category of Yvcomment.

Once I manually delete "36-comment" the above url will work:

http//mysite.com/component/content/article/591-commentxxx

Hi there, of course I have to confess you made a great job! :)

I've been using yvcomments 1.24 from beggining and I set "NOTIFY_ADDEDIT_AUTHOR" for "NOTIFY_ALL". Functions which it gives me are:
- notifying author about new comments in their articles
- notifying commentator about comments to theirs comments (if option of commenting comments was avaible)

But when I disable this function which I accualy preffer to be turned off comments could be added only to article not to comments so commentator did not get notifycations.

I thought that Acajoom will help me but accually I dont see differents of functionality of my whole page - I installed it exactly as you write here http://yurivolkov.com/Joomla/yvComment/ ... tionPlugin

I am not sure if my english is good enough so let me ask my main question one more time: is it possible (and how) after all of avaible yvcomment updates to get notifycation in this situation:

Aricle by ME: test test test test
comment by YOU: i agree, right!
comment(to main article not to comment) by ME: great!

And I want to user "YOU" get email noticyfation. Is it possible? If the solution is in properly installed and configured acajoom please tell me step by step how to do this. Big thanks!

Hi emce71,
you are talking about new option of email notifications (value of the "Notify Authors about comments on their Articles" yvComment option), that may be nicknamed "Article Author and all Commenters". There is NO such "notification mode" in yvComment yet: it will require to implement another algorithm to look up potential users to be notified in the
'function _NotifyAddEdit' function of the 'com_yvcomment/components/com_yvcomment/models/comment.php' file.
You may add such algorithm there yourself... or make a full job of adding new "Article Author and all Commenters" notification mode to yvComment (it may require additional subscription list to combine existing subscription list to the "direct comments" of the author's article/comment...) to be included to the future releases of yvComment?!

I have used yvcomments for many months to full satisfaction. However, a few days back all author's names disappeared from display (they are still visible in the back-end). I don't think I changed any settings, and playing around with the settings didn't change anything. Any ideas what could have caused this and how to repair it?

Try to debug (echo "....") code in the 'plugins\content\yvcomment.php' file near the line 67:
Code:
$yvComment = &yvCommentHelper::getInstance();

Maybe this should be changed to:
Code:
$yvComment = null;
if (class_exists('yvCommentHelper')) {
   $yvComment = &yvCommentHelper::getInstance();
}

still no way to uninstall yvcomment without to break alpha content :(

I can disable yvcomment component and have only the content plugin on ...

but if i turn yvcomment content plugin off then the alpha content layout will break completely.

this is the craziest problem i have even come up with joomla! and so many months i still can not solve it.
i am married with yvcomment even if i like it or not

** alpha content authors dont give a ***t :((((((((
