Has anybody actually got this to work with SMF? I tried like 8 installs and couldn't get it to work! :(

What I need is to bridge J! 1.5 with SMF and Gallery2.

I am surprised it's so difficult and that nobody has made a b ridge for these popular programs yet. ???

Yes, it works really well! But I think you ex specting to much! For now it uses your smf_membertable to login. Duel login doesn't work at this moment, also joomlausergroups aren't implemented! So relax be patience, Marius is doing a hell of a job, almost on his own! Just give the people how are having the skills little bit more respect!

Sorry to have offended you. I respect Marius. God knows he has a daunting task doing this on his own.

However, I can not share your enthusiasm over this since it does not work for me.

As I stated, I installed (or attempted) 8 times and still couldn't get it to work properly.

Some errors I had were:

1) Two login boxes always appeared on the front page even though I disabled J! login and enabled JFusions.
2) My admin account was completely locked out. I couldn't log into the admin area and had to use phpmyadmin to manually turn the component off so I could logon again.
3) Not to mention the countless errors I received along the way when trying to install.
4) I have a working (mostly) working Gallery2 bridge, but can't use it with this since it relies on the J! logon and authentication being enabled.

Plus more problems I had with it that luckily I have erased from my mind right now. ;)

But believe me I gave this a shot and had high hopes for it.

It just didn't work for me and if it works for you or anybody else I would love to know what you did that got it working. Also, which other extensions do you use? Obviously you don't use Gallery.

Thanks to anybody who responds.

No offense to Marius or others who may think I'm a jerk for not getting it to work.

Please, go to the Jfusion website => http://www.jfusion.org
There you'll find the support you needed! One advise always do test new stuff on a locale testarea before applying it on productionarea.
Setup a server on your desktop => Xampp, you will find it here => http://www.apachefriends.org

I did post on the "support" site and didn't received a single response. (two or three posts in different sections I think.)

I am just setting my site up now, so it isn't "live" until I'm ready for it to be.

And I don't want to set up a server on my desktop. Thanks anyway. I have a dedicated server and have other ways of testing, using test areas on that server, etc.

You have three posts on the JFusion forum:
- One was related to the "custom profile fields", which people had problems with setting up and has been removed in JFusion 1.0.2+ for easier install. Many people replied to this thread, which is now in the support->old issues forum (as this issue does not exist anymore).
- One post was regarding the admin being locked out. Please check the "super admin locked" topic (where your post is now, as you created a duplicate thread and your post was merged into the main topic). There are many solutions there.
- One post was regarding having Gallery2 integrated and was posted in the feature request.

So "I have not recieved a single response", is absolutely not true. But I hope you feel better after venting your frustration.

Cheers, Marius

Lol, thanks Marius. I kinda do. :P

I don't remember getting e-mails informing me that my threads were replied to (which I expect since it's standard on other forums and here at Joomla) and when I went in to manually check my threads I couldn't find them any more! (But now I understand why, thanks for the explanation.)

I will look into this further. Hopefully there is some way to get it to work.

I was a bit disappointed now to get anything in my Gallery2 bridge request as I figure that's a very popular app that many would benefit from bridging.

Cheers!

I know it is a bit off topic. But I tried to go to this website (jfusion.org) but can't get a response from their sever! I don't know if I am have been block! If so, there is absolutely no reason for this to happen. I know someone  is forging my email headers!

Thanks! I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to reply! I guess my IP address is being blocked. I was blocked from searching using Google last week for several hours. The message was that my computer was identified as sending spam or was under control of another  computer. I don't know if someone has flagged my IP address.  I am almost 70 years old so I don't need this kind of harassment in my life.

I have just installed the jfusion bridge on my Joomla-site with phpbb3. I manage to login to the Joomla-control panel with mye admin-user, but wonders if its possible to let the moderators on my forum to have access to the Joomla-control panel? As we are several peoples running my site I want my moderators to login with their own accounts - not my account.

It is not a bug but a well known issue of JFUsion alpha stage I think.

There is an quick fix in the JFusion code
if (!$jname || $credentials['username'] == 'admin') {
that hardcodes only "admin" can log into Joomla backend. Unpleasant (for me too) but again: it is alpha release.
Let's cross fingers it will be fully solved. I believed it.
For more info see details in http://www.jfusion.org forum.

I wonder if anyone could help me make the login-module show right? Take a look at the attached image.

JFusion is hosted on a shared server and some script kiddie took down the whole server (my other website and I assume the other 20+ sites on the server too). Tech support is working on getting the server back up again.

Not a jfusion problem itself, but more an issue with my host.

Sorry for the inconvience. Marius

Maybe old but here what I got from before :)

"We spent quite a bit of time making the installation process as easy as possible. There is extensive error checking and reporting during all steps of installation to make it easy for you to see what you need to do. Here is a brief overview of how to install JFusion.

* Install the jfusion Component
* Run the configuration wizard if both softwares are on the same server otherwise setup manually
* Setup the joomla_usergroup field in non-joomla software. The JFusion component can automatically create one for you if you wish.
* Install the authorisation plugin, user plugin and login module in Joomla.
* The component configuration screen will analyse the installation and give you the all clear to publish the plugins.
* Thats all, enjoy your integration.

Below is a list of files included in this jfusion release:

jfusion.zip -> JFusion Component
jfusion_auth.zip -> JFusion authentication plugin (checks for correct passwords)
jfusion_user.zip -> JFusion user plugin (handles all other user functions)
jfusion_login.zip -> JFusion login module (so that users get the correct registration and forgot password links)
jfusion_activity.zip -> JFusion module that displays the latest activity in the forum"

Nice bridge. I am running vBulletin Version 3.7.0 Beta 5 and Joomla 1.5.1 and JFusion allows me to login/logout from the Joomla side and have the changes reflect on the vBulletin side. Tested in IE7 and FF.

The only thing is (other than the missing user sync) is that when I logout of the vBulletin side, it doesn't logout on the Joomla frontend. Plus I cannot login from the vBulletin side.

Not complaining..still alpha and JFusion was slated for vBulletin 3.6.8...but it is working for me. I left the cookie name at "bb" (tried "usercookie" but it did nothing).

Testing at http://www.cywire.com

This may be a great alternative than the paid BBPixel bridges I have been using for years.

sadly jfusion is a one way bridge, it cant recognize if you log on/off inside vbulletin.

I think it is not a bug but a feature of JFusion (at its current release at the least):
the only correct way of login/logout is through JFusion login module. JFusion catches the user and process him and do all necessary things behind. No bulletins (vBulletin, IPB, phpBB, myBB, smf) core hacks are necessary.
So I am prepared to hide login/logout feature at the bulletin side at the final release.

Yep I was thinking I would hide the login once I get the board skinned. It sure is nice not to have to hack into Joomla and the board.

I was wondering if the cookie was named the same that a log out from VBulletin would change the Joomla frontend...maybe that is a database call not a cookie.

But anyways, a pleasant surprise that JFusion worked as an alpha on vBulletin's beta. Keep up the good work!

Not sure if this is a bug. I cleared both cache and cookies in XP. Log will work anycase for username in Joomla, but will not login in vBulletin unless the case matches.

Plus, not sure why but when I log out of Joomla, vBulletin no longer logs out. Cleared cookies and cache...in both FF and IE...in both XP and Vista.

Database Type (ie mysql)- mysql
Database Host- localhost
Database Name- correct
Database Username- correct
Database Password- correct

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Table Prefix- vb_
Full URL to Integrated Software- http://www.cywire.com/community/
Cookie Path-
Cookie Name- bb
vB liscence is valid.

In VB Admin the Path to Save Cookies is /
and the Cookie Domain is (blank)

Also the Are forum links shown in a Joomla wrapper? is stuck on yes.

Reinstalled the component but no change.

Hi,

Yeah, for some people the vbulletin logout did not work. It is fixed for the next release and a patch was available from the jfusion support forum.

My host is driving me crazy, the whole server has been rooted (including the dozen other hosting accounts on the same server), but no real action is happening. Maybe time for me to move my websites to a new hosting company.

I was doing some final testing of the user-sync functions and ironing out any issues. But with the sites being unavailable, there is going to be a small delay in the next release.

Thanks for your understanding, Marius

I am stumped now...I went back an hour later (with no changes made) and logged in and just the frontend Joomla logs in now...in both IE7 and FF. Is this a session issue? Guess I'll take it off till the next version.

I feel your pain...had my sites on 3 different hosts that either tanked or erased my sites. 1&1, Bliksemhosting and Vision Plateau. Not a good feeling seeing your hardwork get thrown away in an instant. Thank goodness for backups and dedicated servers.

I bet it has something to do with different session lengths or the sessions not syncing with both applications. Just a guess.
