Online Template converter

Post by ced1870 » Tue Jul 26, 2011 10:45 am

Hi everybody
Following a post in the French Joomla forum I decided to make a Template converter to transform your Joomla 1.5 template into a 1.6 version.
It is free and you can test it here :
http://template-converter.joomlack.fr/

Hope it helps !

It's the template available for free at the link below. When I try to convert it, it only shows the header image. Can you help with this. http://prowebcreative.com/free-joomla-t ... 286-pwc033

Also, the converter did not add the </install> closing tag on the templateDetails.xml file in order for the installation process to complete. I had to remove the </extensions> tag and replace it with the </install> tag.

How can I tell if a template was made by Artisteer? So I can avoid those in the future.

And thank you very much for your help.

you can just look in the code, if you find a lot of tags like 'art....' it is probably made with this software.

So that template that I sent you can never be converted into a Joomla 1.6/1.7 template?

I've spent hours trying to convert that template myself and most likely for nothing. :-[

hi
for professionnal templates like rockettheme don't expect my converter to work . these templates does not respect the "standard" structure, go on the rocketheme website to purchase the new one.

I love the template converter idea. Great job Ced and thanks for the share. I have an ideas to add to your converter. What about adding support for Gantry, Warp, Wright, Morph, etc frameworks? Do you think the converter could determine if a framework is being used and make the appropriate changes for that framework? Then, if no framework is detected, use the standard template structure to convert.
