NoixACL System Plugin 2.0.11
Release Notes

With this release the "Super Administrator" has full access to create, edit and delete the following:

1) Menus and menu items
2) Articles

All administrative tasks can be accomplished without having to disable the NOIX "Content" or "Menu" adapters.

The "Super Administrator" is granted by default access to all "Menus" and "Content".

The "Super Administrator" group, however, must still be granted access from the frontend to "Menu Items" manually.

To give the "Super Administrator" access to "Menu Items" on the frontend:

1) Navigate to Components->Access Control->Manage Groups
2) Select the Super Administrator group
3) Select under the adapter list menu
4) Select Frontend and use the dropdown menu to select the menu you need to grant access click the menu items and then tick the box to grant access.

If you are experiencing any problem with the new system plugin installed please report it to

http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/noixacl

A couple of questions.

1. I have two copies on my machine so I'm trying to uninstall and reinstall as suggested. When I try to uninstall, I receive an error that states 'Plugin Uninstall: Manifest File invalid or not found '.

I believe this is because I had two installations. It uninstalled the first and couldn't find the second. The second still appeared in my plugins list though. I'm guessing that I will need to add the files into the backend manually to be able to delete this second installation. I'm not certain which files I will need to add back there though. If this is correct, can you tell me what files it is looking for so I can add them?

2. Should I install AdapterContent1.5.5.zip or AdapterContent1.5.7.zip?

3. I have to reinstall but applying permissions to everything again is a time consuming nightmare (2 hours). is there a table I can update in the backend to do this for me instead?

Thanks so much for your time in these! It's much much appreciated. I only have one more day to get all of this working.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Trine,

1. Which plugin do you have 2 of? Check in the Joomla! plugin manager and see which version it is if it the sys plugin (2.0.10 or 2.0.11) You could download the user or sys plugin (which ever you have 2 of) and extract it to a folder and then copy it to the root joomla install>plugins with the folder prefix plg_noix (i think, look at the other folders), im not sure if there is an admin plugin but you might want to do the same for rootinstall>administrator>plugins again with the same plg_noix prefix.

2. we recommend at the moment 1.5.5 adapter but aBrookland has provided some hacks that i would like to see check and possible edited on the 1.5.7 content adapter.

3. what are you reinstalling Joomla! or NoixACL? If the above solve the issues then there is no reason to reinstall NoixACL.

If you are reinstalling Joomla! Then you cannot create a backup of noix because when ou create the content the ID's will more than likely be different.

Hope this helps

I've tried to create a new group in front-end, called "mestres editors". Once I clic over (component-access control-manage groups-mestres editors-adapter-content) and I choose front-end tab, the word of the section that I want is in grey colour, so I can't edit.

Frontend and backend are grey out because they are not editable.

The problem you descride is probably caused by the contentadapter 1.5.7 uninstall it and install the 1.5.5 contentadapter (link above).

give some details of the installed plugins and adapters.

Hi,

I have install Joomla 1.5.14 & NoIX 2.0.6 with these files :

Component:
1) noixacl2.0.6.zip

Modules:
1) mod_mainmenu_noix.zip

Adapters:
1) adapterAccess1.5.3.zip
2) adapterContent1.5.5.zip
3) adapterModulesv1.0.zip
4) menuAdapter1.5.1.zip

Then unsintall plugin 2.0.10 & install 2.0.11.

Problems at Backend : Can't access Menu
Problem at Backend : Error of SQL

Created some groups & users. Tried to add article to menu. As I clicked at menu, error msg : "You don't have permission to access". This Group actually has the feature to : new item, change item, save, edit, publish, unpublish, move to trace, cancel for this menu.
( Components -> access control -> manage group -> (click at group name) -> Menu -> Backend -> (click at Menu name) ..

And at front end I got this error msg :
No valid database connection You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'and id_group = id' at line 1 SQL=select id_group, name from jos_noixacl_multigroups, jos_core_acl_aro_groups where id_user = 0 and id_group != and id_group = id

I don't change anything to MySQL setting ... :( ... Why come this database connection error ?

Thanks.

Thank you so much for responding. I ended up rebuilding my entire Joomla site yesterday from scratch and reinstalling noixACL. So far it is not only working but I have to say that noixACL is awesome! I would like to have known the backend to make updating the many items again easier but in understanding the pieces though I'm still confused on the levels a bit, noixACL has made it very easy to go through and do them. I love the new documentation and site and thank you for your help on the forums! When you are stuck on something seemingly simple, it is a very big deal and infinitely appreciated that you can get help.

Sorry i have just realise my miss reading.

I take it you have not categorise in the section, in the frontend dropdown list you can see all the sections and selecting one will then show the categorise associated to that section, provided the are set to an access level other than public you can then set permissions.

At present I have not used access levels because most of my successful ACL control is done just using the standard 3 levels.

You should be able to perform all admin tasks with the new 2.0.11 sysplugin with out the no permissions error as this new plugin bypassess this for the super admin.

Im not sure why you are getting an SQL error!

Normally it would say that three accesslevels are enough. But I need to able to hide and show some pages for particular usergroups (depends on Active Directory). If I understand Joomla correctly this can be done by applying accesslevels to sections categories and articles. I was hoping that NoixACL could do that, because it is able to define more accesslevels.

Vircos,

I also use noixACL with my Joomla site configured with LDAP authentication for my Intranet.

Your right you can restrict access to the 3 content levels but NoixACL only sets permissions for Categories, and this is defined in the content adapter of noix 'frontend' tab. If you set articles to registered then anyone who has permissions access to the category will be able to view it.

I successfully restrict menus items, modules and content per Noix group and have not as of yet found a need to use access levels.

;)

Perhaps a usefull request.

An adapter which is able to redirect users from a specific group to it's own home-page when logging in. Or does it exist already? I did not found such an adapter or possibilty within NoixACL.

Oh and my compliments for the developers of NoixACL. It's a very nice extension :D

I remember this being requested some months ago, back at page 20 or so!

I dont believe there is any function to do this but there might be an extention already there to do so that might need tweaking!

The only think i can think of that could be done is hacking a login module that would have code like

check user group and then go to this menu item/article. Due to lack of php skill im not able to create such a hack!

The only way around it i can think off it to put thie one article in its own category and only let access to it for that user!

Or wait for Noix2.1, Joomila posted today saying he will be realising it soon, so once we have tested it ill let you know...

I have everything working as I had in mind except for one thing. I want a different topmenus per usergroup. I have created two new modules of the type mod_mainmenu_noix with each a different menu selected. I've set the proper rights for the menu-items in the ACL. Those steps are similar to the turorial that can be found at http://www.caribbeanwebsolutions.com/noixacl/

But the generated HTML is not valid. IE does not show a menu and Firefox does not position the menu at right position. This is the HTML that is generated:

Code:
<ul class="menu" /><ul class="menu"><li id="current" class="active item6"><a href="/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=frontpage&amp;Itemid=6"><span>Home</span></a></li></ul>

In this case the first <UL> is not used properly and does not contain any list-items which is correct because there are no menu-items to display. The empty <UL> is causing this problem and should not be generated at all.

Is someone able to help me with this one please?

I have a huge problem and am not certain what I'm doing wrong! Registered users are being given access to all content on the site.

I have the following setup:
Menus:
Main menu
users menu

Groups:
Registered Group
Community Group

Scenario of how it should work: users sign up for the site. They are registered and should have access to the main menu but NOT the users menu. As of now, they register and can see everything. After paying, they become a member of the community group. They now have access to both the main menu and the users menu.

how its actually working:
users sign up for the site. Before paying, the users menu still appears for them.

Setup:
NoixACL setup
Registered - no access setup for users menu in noixACL. Registered is a parent of public front end.
Community - access for both menus given. Community parent is registered. I tried with public front end too and this didn't help.

Adapters are all enabled.
user menu is type special and all menus underneath it are type special too.

I don't understand the levels. Perhaps this is where I'm going wrong. Please help. We are in big trouble with users here.

Hi everybody and thanks for this valuable component !

I got a couple of things for you. One is a note:

I maybe found the reason why the "Frontpage Add" tick stays off
even when selected. I'm talking about the access adapter
(1.5.3) in the "Manage content" section.

The error is in /adapters/access/views/general/tmplt/default.php:

Code:
      <td>
         <?php
         $haveAccess = $this->checkAccess('com_content','add','users',$groupName,'content','all');
         ?>
         <input type="checkbox" <?php if( $haveAccess ): ?> checked="checked" <?php endif; ?> name="ada_access[com_content][]" value="add;" />
      </td>
   </tr>
   <tr>
      <td width="150" class="key">
         <label for="name">
            <?php echo JText::_( 'Frontpage Edit All' ); ?>
         </label>
      </td>
      <td>
         <?php
         $haveAccess = $this->checkAccess('com_content','edit','users',$groupName,'content','all');
         ?>
         <input type="checkbox" <?php if( $haveAccess ): ?> checked="checked" <?php endif; ?> name="ada_access[com_content][]" value="edit;content;all" />
      </td>

other entries got 3 values ;separated, while the "add" one doesn't. I
tried to correct it like that

Code:
      <td>
         <?php
         $haveAccess = $this->checkAccess('com_content','add','users',$groupName,'content','own');
         ?>
         <input type="checkbox" <?php if( $haveAccess ): ?> checked="checked" <?php endif; ?> name="ada_access[com_content][]" value="add;content;own" />
      </td>
   </tr>
   <tr>
      <td width="150" class="key">
         <label for="name">
            <?php echo JText::_( 'Frontpage Edit All' ); ?>
         </label>
      </td>
      <td>
         <?php
         $haveAccess = $this->checkAccess('com_content','edit','users',$groupName,'content','all');
         ?>
         <input type="checkbox" <?php if( $haveAccess ): ?> checked="checked" <?php endif; ?> name="ada_access[com_content][]" value="edit;content;all" />
      </td>

As you can see, I changed the values so that one can add articles
in his own category (?).

But I got a serious problem. I created a group under Publisher. In the
content adapter I sat the correct category on which to do managing
stuff (adding, publishing deleting.. all). I created a user adding it to
this group and finally I sat all general access permissions to my group.

So I got:

Publisher
-> MYGROUP

MYUSER => MYGROUP

MySection (public)
MyCategory (public)

Content adapter (backend)
MYGROUP => MyCategory (all)

Access adapter (general)
MYGROUP (all)

I checked all the checkbox as a very easy case, but MYUSER
is unable to post content nor to see edit or add icons from the
category list view of MyCategory (as you show in your example, Project 2).
It seems that noix recognize it not as a Publisher (MYGROUP's parent entry)
but as a normal powerless registered user..

When it tries to submit an article, in the right category, joomla
hits a 403 forbidden error, like if the user has no authoring privilege
(while supposed to be publisher !)

If I switch MYUSER from MYGROUP to Publisher, than everything
works, but now it can act on all categories, and not just over
MyCategory. Am I missing something ? I got all the adapters
(1.5.5 and not 1.5.7 for the content, 1.5.3 for the access, 1.0
for modules and 1.5.1 for menus. Component is 2.0.6 and system
plugin 2.0.11)

I thought that setting Publisher as a parent group for MYGROUP,
all privileges would go down to its children, so that MYGROUP
could be a special publisher, authorized to modify ONLY MyCategory.
What happens, insted, is that MYGROUP is nothing more than Registered.

Why ?

Thanks alot !!!!
