I finished up the metaweblog api plugin for Joomla 1.5 today.

You can download it from http://carver-family.com/files/metaweblog.zip

To install, you'll need to delete the /plugins/xmlrpc/metaweblog.xml and metaweblog.php holder files from the default installation.  Don't worry, they don't have anything in them, they're just placeholders.

You can publish to any category/section and also to the front page from ScribeFire.  The server url is http://wherever.whatever/xmlrpc/index.php.

Try it out.  I'll post a more detailed entry on the ScribeFire setup and the plugin parameters later.

Enjoy!

To know its in action .. whoo hoo!  I can ditch wordpress now. This is one of the key factors I was waiting on with 1.5.  YOU made my day.  I will post links to the new site when I get everything set in motion and let you know how it works for me.

doesn't work for me.
Throws error messages regarding missing category calls and so on...

to confirm, to install I:
a) go to the  /plugins/xmlrpc/ folder,
b) delete the metaweblog.xml and metaweblog.php files
c) copy your metawblog.xml, metaweblog.php, and rc_frontpage.php into the /plugins/xmlrpc/ folder
d) configure my blog software to point to it....

I tested it in marsedit as well
the log says:

Hi,

I'm trying this on Joomla 1.5.2 and it looks as though things have changed:

a) go to the /plugins/xmlrpc/ folder,
b) delete the metaweblog.xml and metaweblog.php files
c) copy your metawblog.xml, metaweblog.php, and rc_frontpage.php into the /plugins/xmlrpc/ folder
d) configure my blog software to point to it....

The files noted in b) didn't exist, so I just copied in the new ones and index.php doesn't exist in the directory, so I substituted in joomla.php which did. I also enabled XML-RPC - Joomla plugin. However it didn't work for me, I'm wondering whether it's compatible with the latest Joomla 1.5.2 version.

All the best,
Chris

With the new Firefox about to be released, and its reported problems with extensions, add-ons or whatever they're calling them by this time, I'm thinking any time used to fix ScribeFire to work with Joomla 1.5 would be a waste.

Let's wait for Firefox 3, and hope that ScribeFire gets an update which would include Jooma 1.5...

I had that a couple of times - redid the blog config in scribefire a couple of times - and it worked. Don't ask me why it didn't work the first time!

I also did the steps above (copied the files into plugin/xmlrpc and found some files missing, etc.).

I also got the malformed response. So I went directly to the url (http://yoursite/xmlrpc/index.php) and found that the xmlrpc server was not enabled.

I then went to the Site configuration -> system tab. Turned on the web services.

Then Scribe fire configured and found it. However, now I'm getting javascript errors saying unknown method when I try to do anything with Scribefire. Any ideas?

found a system that worked for me ... http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=473&t=262269&st=0&sk=t&sd=a#p1192273

Moderators "should" probably change the first post to reflect the location of the newest version of this plugin

Anyone managing to get this working with J1.5? I can't get any response using it at all - but I'd love to have it working.

We forked the Metaweblog plugin, fixed it to work with Blogo, and put it up at http://github.com/benjaminjackson/jooml ... all/master.

If you have a Mac you might want to try out Blogo. You can drag images straight into the editor and preview your post with your blog's CSS (among many, many other things).
