I need the same Component.

madchris's reply was very useful. "BUT"

What i need is:
1- Users or guests can post questions. Then Joomla sends an E-Mail to this User or Guest that we received his Question.
2- Admin can access questions and answer them or even edit an already answered question. Then Joomla sends the Answer to this user or guest.
3- View all questions at the Front-End with search capability.

Thanks in advance

Hello ,
Anybody find this component ????????

Hello lads,

I'm also really desperate to find this component/extension. I started a similar thread on the forum which can be found at http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p=1831411.

I've had a look at jAnswers Factory but...

1/ it's far too expensive and,

2/ it's too complex.

All I want (and I think all the other posters in this thread want) is just a very simple Q&A component. I have attached two images to illustrate perfectly what I think we're all after...

It would be great if someone could suggest a free (or at cheap) and VERY simple Q&A module. I look forward to any responses!

madchris wrote:My solution was to use the built-in content functionality of Joomla. I created a content category for my FAQ section. See Content -> Category Manager in the back end; note that categories are inside sections, so you may want to create a new section too. I linked to the section with a menu item. Try the Table - Content Category menu item type to link directly to the category. You can edit the characteristics of the table with the menu item's parameters.

At that point, each new FAQ is a new content item placed in the appropriate section and category.
Thanks for the input madchris, but your solution is far too complex for what I want, and I'd imagine this is the case for all the other posters on this thread. Really all we need is a single question and a single answer.

I have been searching and have found an alternative component called Medi QnA. The name isn't very good, but it might do the job - a simple Q&A component AND it's free. You can download it from either

http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... rveys/6814

or

http://www.famouswebsites.biz/JED/Medi-QnA/Medi-QnA.php

I have not installed it yet, but if someone does, please report back on how well it solves this problem. Thanks,

UPDATE Medi-QnA probably won't do the job. Sorry.

I too have been searching for this to no avail. So I've decided to hire someone to create it. I think it should be something simple like a text entry field where a user can post any question and another text entry field for anyone to answer it. Answers would be treated like any other comment system and displayed below the question. In fact we might just use intensedebate as the reply system. It could potentially run like yahoo answers.

Each question should be a separate unique id and display on its own page.
Admin will define the available sections and categories for easy management on back end, user can select from drop down list on front end
We would want people to be able to subscribe to the thread, so they get email notification when a post is made or a reply given
Needs to include a rating system for answers
Needs to have the ability to publish questions to social networking systems (twitter, facebook, etc.)
Needs to display profile thumbnail
Needs to display username and link to user profile
Needs to be able to assign profile system in admin configuration (ex. Community Builder, joomla core, etc.)

Please submit any requirements you would like to see in this extension. Also, since I am bankrolling this project, donations are welcome. Please contact me at [email protected]

Thanks
Shawn

Hi p9939068,

I have seen SIM Answers before, but it's just way too in-depth and I think it will confuse my customers. We're not looking for a big, feature-packed component, we're just looking for a very simple Question and Answer module. I have attached a screenshot of what we are looking for. This format is perfect.

That isn't really QnA, more like FAQ.

Hmmm, no I think this is a QnA but just a very simple one. On this site in particular, you can click 'Ask a Question' and it will open up a dialogue box (see attached picture)

FAQs are typically lists of common questions that don't provide any user interaction. All of the questions on this site have been asked by the visitors to the site, and the owner has answered them individually.

So... :) Anybody found something close to what @sharifi14 is looking for?

Been google-ing for a while, nothin' seem to be as simple as it should.

@p9939068 - most definitely it's not like a faq.
@Ghonjez - no forum extension needed, just Q&A with a recaptcha for spammers.

And YES, it is a simple form, though it may look so complicated. I'm no programmer but I happen to live among them. It's simple, but still too much for me.

In joomla 1.0.x I remember free "JOOMLA SIMPLE FAQ" that was just simple as it state. Guests/Users could submit the question from the frontend and admins could answer it too from the frontend. Too bad theres no such component for Joomla 1.5

Tho u could customise it to fits ur needs.

Theres a very good Component for posting questions and answers on: http://tutoriale.scridaprest.ro/en/View ... -Jfaq.html its first version and already does its job and you can very very easily implement jezReCaptcha into it to fight spam. Its free and it needs support.

I've been looking for a Yahoo Answers clone myself, and after going through all the suggestions here, I must say SIMAnswers is by far the best QnA extension there is for Joomla, although I couldn't find it on the JED.

Community Answers is a Yahoo Answers like Web 2.0 QnA component using which your users can start discussions on topics of their interest.

I'm also looking for something similar for Joomla 2.5 but I had no luck until now. Any ideas for such an extension to be used for a site similar to Yahoo! Answers? Thanks!
