Re: rhuk solarflare ii to work with 1.5
Hello HarryB,
Is this template attach to this posting a updated one? I am not at home right now so I can't look at it. I got the banner in the middle but I notice that in IE 7 the banner don't look right, it looks like it is big and in FireFox the banner looks right. Here goes my website so you can take a look at this: http://www.moneyhelpsout.com/joomla
Thank You

Hello HarryB,
I hate to bug you again! but I been trying to fix this problem with the template. On the template, on the left hands side there are all the link for different things like "example Page" every time I click on this it will not display anything! I also try it on the template that came with Joomla 1.5 and this will not work also. Am I missing a setting or am i doing something wrong? here is my link to my website: http://www.moneyhelpsout.com/joomla just try to click anything on the left hand side and it will not work at all. Let me know if you can help me out?
Thank You

Hello HarryB,
Sorry! I found the problem! I had to put all the setting to "NO" under the SEO setting so the webpages could come back. Thank You anyways!

OK, version 1.5.5 is out so those pesky 1.5.4 double title errors are behind us. For those who were still getting the home menu alias in your URL when you clicked home (ex. http://example.com/home.html instead of http://example.com) - you should upgrade.
HarryB - I giggle every time I see this thread. You are doing great work keeping that template moving forward with Joomla!. Thanks for all the help you are giving people. It's very kind of you.
Long live the rhuk Solareflare II,
Amy

The reference site for solarflare at http://rc.hrpr.com has been runnig 1.5.5 sincce 27 July...and it still says "http://rc.hrpr.com/home". I don't have the suffix stuff turned on....only SEF and .htaccess.AmyStephen wrote:OK, version 1.5.5 is out so those pesky 1.5.4 double title errors are behind us. Boy - it sure does! Try turning on the file extensions and then tell me it doesn't do it anymore. Don't tell me anything else, though. Just that it works. (I suppose I can handle it if it doesn't.)
Thanks Harry!

Hello HarryB,
I was wondering if you can help me out with another problem? When a user trys to create a acount on my website? everything works fine but when they click on Register, it does not show anything that they register UNLESS they go all at the bottom of the page and they will see this "Notice
Your account has been created and an activation link has been sent to the e-mail address you entered. Note that you must activate the account by clicking on the activation link when you get the e-mail before you can login." but this information is at the bottom of the page. How can I put this information within the box information for Registration? I have a screen shot of the image http://www.moneyhelpsout.com/joomla/ima ... gister.jpg Could you please let me know how can I fix this?
Thank You

Look near the bottom of the index.php file and you will see this statement:
Right after
insert this
Then delete the statement at the bottom
Code: Select all
<jdoc:include type="message" />
Code: Select all
</head>
insert this
Code: Select all
<body>

Hello HarryB,
Ok, I just wanted to make sure about this? I insert the code in the Template SolarFlare ii? right? If this is ok? then I should see the file call index.php and I edit this? right? ok, I insert the code into the index.php and it does not seem to work at all? and I delete the part you told me too. Go ahead and make your account again and see if it works for you? unless I am doing something wrong? I left the new coding on the website that you said to edit so the index.php file should have the code you told me to put. Please let me know if I made a mistake?
Thank You
Ruben

I looked at your site and it appears that the changes are not there.
Are you sure you changed the right index.php file? You need to change the index.php file in the templates/rhuk_solarflare-ii subdirectory.
Here is a copy of the latest index.php file for your reference:

Re: rhuk solarflare ii to work with 1.5
A newer version of the RHUK Solarflare_II template for Joomla! 1.5 is now available. Updates include:
- System information and error messages now appear at the top of the page rather than the bottom
- Cleanup of minor errors in the index.php and template_css.css files
- Now validates as xHTML 1.0 Transitional and CSS Level 2.1.

Hello HarryB,
Sorry for all the questions and issues I might be causing you, but I have another questions? If I download the new template, would my menu change? and the background color? Would I have to start all over again? Please let me know? and once more I am so sorry for all the questions!
Thank You

Re: rhuk solarflare ii to work with 1.5
Hello HarryB,
You are the Greatest!! These people in Joomla website should thank you for all the work!! I found my problem! but I don't understand it? I see where I made my mistake. Ok, here it goes! I logon to my ftp server and went to templates where the solarflare ii was at. This is where I seen the index.php files so I download the file from my server and edit it. After I did this I upload the file back to the server but I think this is where I made my mistake becasuse when I logon to my Joomla backend and went to template manager. I wanted to see if the coding was there? and I seen that the code I put was not there at all ! I don't understand this part at all? so I put the code you said before and now it works! but do you know why it didn't wanted to work when I edit the file and upload it to my server? I am wondering if I have to edit everything though the backend of Joomla? well thank you again HarryB ! If you can answer my question this will be great! I am trying to understand the coding and the way Joomla backend works.
Thank You
Ruben

Yes, you would have to redo all the changes you made. Probably no need for you to use new template.sirknight115 wrote:Hello HarryB,

Don't really know why your changes didn't happen when you did local edit and ftp. Maybe got an error during the ftp upload or ??sirknight115 wrote:Hello HarryB,

You do not have to use the Joomla! backend to edit your template files; however, it is probably a good practice to do so...less movng parts, less chance of introducing errors.

Changing the color of the "bread crumb" and "top" areas
Hi Harry. I'm trying to change the color of the "breadcrumb" and "top" areas of my templates. I've attached a screen shot or you can go here:
http://fosm.net
In your template, they (breadcrumb and top) are dark red with a brighter red on the hover. I would like a white background (instead of the dark red) with a dark red on the hover like this site (which uses the solarflare 1.0 default):
http://avrillavigne.biz/
Thanks for your help. I'm really excited about switching to 1.5 and how far I have come with this template.

Re: rhuk solarflare ii to work with 1.5
Go to Admin > Extensions > Module Manager > Top Menu and make sure you have the Module Style is set to "Legacy - Flat List."
Same for main menu except make sure the Module Style is set to "Legacy - Vertical."
Once that is done, hopefully it will look like my reference site at http://rc.hrpr.com .... and we can proceed from there to make any more style changes.
Also, there's a newer version of the template available at http://portal.hrpr.com/downloads/joomla-templates that fixes some minor bugs in the css.

Re: rhuk solarflare ii to work with 1.5
hello Harry
many thanks for your hard work here! It is a great pleasure to see that a template has got such a great and supportive people.
I looked at your site and on several other sites - that are linked in this thread.
And it appears that the width of the Template is not too big. In fact: Every page shows a small samll width.
Where to adjust to the max.
I love the template and i am curious to get it running on my site. But i want to have it in full width
look forward to hear from you
best regards

Re: rhuk solarflare ii to work with 1.5
To adjust the max, you have to edit the width value in this line in the index.php file:
And, also do adjustments to entries in the template_css.css file shown in an earlier entry in this thread at:
http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p ... 7#p1321527
Code: Select all
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="808">

If you need a helping hand, use the one at the end of your own arm.

hello HarryB, hello all dear rhuk solarflare ii-friends,
many many thanks for the quick reply. This forum is very very helpful - and you are the one that has a very very great contribution. Thanks for all you did.
Well - perhaps i should edit the template_css.css file like shown earlier in this thread. See the screenshots of the results - editing the index.php from width 808 to 1001.
look forward to any and all comments

i editet the width value in this line in the index.php - line 44. Besides this i did not change anything. i went from width =808 to 1001 in several steps... see the results.. below: Well if you see 1001 then you notice that on the right side a big border is visible. Well - what bout this border. Can i fill this collumn to get a view (and look and feel) like here in http://fosm.net, where we can see a right column?HarryB wrote:To adjust the max, you have to edit the width value in this line in the index.php file:And, also do adjustments to entries in the template_css.css file shown in an earlier entry in this thread at http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p ... 7#p1321527Code: Select all

Take a look at http://rc.hrpr.com and tell me if this is the layout you want.
Also, if you want a right column, you have to assign one of more modules to the "right" position in Admin > Extensions > Module Manager.

Can you make this template downloadable somewhere?
That would be a great thing.
