how to copy a template of a site to joomla?

i know my question may silly for some of you, but i hope someone could asnwer me. i was wondering if i can copy the template of a certain site and use it into joomla site ? and if yes how do i install? is it straightforward from the back end of joomla in the extensions part?

You need the original template .zip file to install it via the backend. You may be able to install it manually via FTP but I am uncertain about the "how" of doing that.

Look at the other site's source file and get the name of the template. Then search GOOGLE for it. If its free download it, if not buy it and then install via admin.

Hi Nermine,

if you have access to the backend or hosting site for the template you are interested in, then you can copy the template folder via ftp, then copy that to your site via ftp again.

Jeff. Never having done a copy/install, does just copying the template folder into the templates directory on a site allow it to appear in the template manager?

I will have to give this a try. It seems too simple vs. a formal admin install procedure.
