How to install custom made template?

Post by jimleeder123 » Tue Nov 04, 2014 5:01 pm

I'm using Joomla 1.5 and this has probably been answered elsewhere so link me if it has.

I have made a custom template in a zip folder with index.php and the templatedetails.xml file. It is on my desktop but won't install to Joomla or be picked up by it. Extension Manager shows it but I cannot get it on the install bit. When I try to upload it says the file cannot be moved. Help please?

You're running into permissions issues. Make sure that Apache has write permissions to the tmp folder and to the templates folder (recursively).

FTP the template's folder, unzipped, to your site's "templates" folder. If all the needed files are in the template folder Joomla's Template Manager should see it.

Is that all? What should the css file inside the folder be called? Just style.css?

Most used is template.css, but they can be called whatever you like.

Its still not picking up the template with the addition of those folders. Have I missed anything?

It can be the configuration of your host server.
