Maybe you simply need to disable (or even to uninstall) "yvCommentPlugin2"?!

Hello.
I have a problem with posting comments. Installation went fine, but when I press the "post" button - nothing happens. Same goes with the "preview" button. Everything is enabled in plugin/module sections. Joomla 1.6.1, yvComment 2.00.002. Any ideas? Thanks.

Can you please advise a hack that will inhibit your plug-in (ie. no comments shown) when the url contains the tmpl=component parameter?
Hi Ron,
hack is not our way :-)
I will be near my computer next week and will think about this.
Hi Yuri,

No, I don't like a hack either. But I need a solution today, so in the interim I have done this:

At the top of the constructor for your plugin class (in the component helpers.php), I have added the code:

Code: Select all

$u = & JFactory::getURI();
if ( $u->getVar( 'tmpl' ) == 'component' ) self::$hide = true ;
Obviously, mediating this with a parameter would be best, but I realise your component already suffers from over-parameterisation.

All the best,
--Ron.

"Nothing happens" means that your Internet browser doesn't
submit HTML <form>, that contains the buttons.
This may be due to
the errors in HTML markup on your page.
You have to figure out and fix that errors (they may be e.g. in banners...)

I just downloaded and installed yvcomment for my new 1.6 site. I cannot use the KeyCAPTCHA options due to:

The KeyCAPTCHA extension has been unpublished from:
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... tcha/14698

As this is the only CAPTCHA option listed on the documentation, it is impossible for a new install to use this functionality.

You can download plugin from keycaptcha.com website from under logged in user and follow instructions there for registration and installation.

what problems?
See http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=262&t=612283 "rogue unpublishing bot on JED site?"
That only says you were unpublished because your site wasn't up

From what i understand the JED don't use a bot, the community register, the community review, the community reports. can joomla afford a link checking bot running 24hours a day for a free little thanks given, promotional service? Be thankful or don't use it if you don't like it

It says that the webpage of the website were down during 1-hour duration per many months of continuous availability while antispam KeyCAPTCHA service was always up (and has nothing to do with the website)

Hello, Yuriy,
Proud to use your comments plugin. I tried jComments, but it not works in Joomla 1.6.3, but yours works fine. I got one question - Which Captcha plugins are you advise to use with yvComment? I need simple and with Russian questions something like: "Сколько будет 2+5= ?" Or pictures, any which works ok.

yvComment - One month since v.2.0.2a was released

Post by yvolk » Fri Apr 29, 2011 12:04 pm

Hello, Joomla! community!
Today is one month since v.2.0.2a for Joomla! 1.6 was released. It's two required parts (yvCommentComponent and yvCommentPlugin) were downloaded from JoomlaCode more than 1800 times.
I didn't get any bug report since that time (a few issues reported in this thread during this month were not confirmed to be bugs in yvComment).
So, does this mean we may increase Maturity of the "1_yvComment_Joomla-1-6" package from "3 - Alpha" to the "4 - Beta" level?

dear Yvolk,
The Component/plugin yvcomments is compatible with joomla 1.6.
So , I am trying to do the follow control level acess.
I want that only a group of users can edit and edit state of comments in front end, Like the administrator does! (I saw that just super admin users can edit and edit state of comments).
Am I wrong?
Your extension use ACL for front-end?
If not, can I improve it and send you?

Thanks and congratulations for your extension

yvComment - Access control in Joomla! 1.6

Post by yvolk » Fri May 06, 2011 5:57 am

Dear Hugosousa,
yvComment uses the access control methods as native Joomla! Articles do.
Please see 'components/com_yvcomment/helpers.php' file, functions:

Code: Select all

/**
 * This applies both to Articles and Comments
 * $data - row of the article
 * return bool view-access
 */
public static function UserCanViewArticle(& $data) {
   ...
}

public static function LookupUser($inst = null) {
	$message = '';
	self::$_UserCanEdit = 'none';
	 ...
}
I will be glad if you will improve it!

Hi.
I Can't publish the comments.
I'm super admin and if i set debug to true, the plugin says "UserCanEdit=all" on top and "EditEnabled=false for type=1" for every comment in frontend as in backend.
I don't know what i need to configure for this to work.
Thans.

I think I found the problem.
I have the plugin configured not to use the contents table, but when checking whether to display the buttons, it searches in the table of contents to see if it is a comment, but it should not.

I changed line 1539 of file components/com_yvcomment/helpers.php.

Before

Code: Select all

if (!$this->IsCommentByID($CommentID_in)) {
Then

Code: Select all

if ($this->UseContentTable() && !$this->IsCommentByID($CommentID_in)) {
yvolk, can you check if this is the right solution? I think more things should be changed.

At the moment I can now publish and edit comments.

Thanks.

Hi Yvolk,
Thanks for your reply,
I am trying understand how it works, case I have some doubt I wiil question ok? lol

So, a tip is put in plugin manager in the text "List of Categories IDs of Articles which may, or may not, contain comments", a plus "List of Categories IDs of Articles which may, or may not, contain comments, If you fixed a category for comments and you want to use reply, put the id category of categry for comments" or some like that. Becouse it is not easy for understand.

Thanks

Hi, But I saw in components/com_yvcomment/helpers.php line 276

Code: Select all

                if ($user->authorize('com_content', 'edit', 'content', 'all')) {
			self::$_UserCanEdit = 'all';
		} elseif ( $user->authorize('com_content', 'edit', 'content', 'own')) {
			self::$_UserCanEdit = 'own';
		}
You use $user->authorize instead of $user->authorise, the parameters are diferents and the authorize is deprecated.

Hello,

Great job, but i've got a problem, When I want to reach YVCOMMENT by the administration the following message appears:
yvComment plugin type=1 is NOT loaded

--
yvComment solution, version="1.25.3"
Joomla! version number: 1.5.23
exact version of yvComment : 1.25.003
scenario (steps) to reproduce the problem:

installion:
1- yvCommentPlugin-1.25.003.zip ok
2- yvCommentPlugin2-1.25.003.zip ok
3- yvCommentModule-1.25.003.zip ok
4- yvCommentComponent-1.25.003.zip ok
5- yvCommentCBPlugin-1.25.003.zip -> error :"Erreur : Impossible de trouver un fichier XML Joomla! d'installation dans ce pack!"

all is activate.
6-yvCommentLanguagePack_fr-FR_1.20.000 ok

I look for the fact that I did not do well... Have you a suggestion?

thanks You

Enable commenting in child categories in J1.6

Post by rlubensky » Tue May 10, 2011 6:42 am

Hi Yuri, I'm upgrading one of my sites to J1.6, which replaces the section/category organisation with multiple category levels. In the current version of yvcomments I have to set the precise categories for which commenting is active. Instead, I want comments to enabled in all sub-categories of a particular category. In a future release, can you please add code and perhaps a checkbox in your config to enable child categories?

it may be easy to use a control to select categories because joomla has that type of field, JFormFieldCategory.

Thank you for suggestion, pals.
@pnia I will check this.
@rlubensky I saw this problem, but decided that it's too time expensive to make recursive search on each request. I should check Joomla! 1.6 code: maybe my plugin can receive some callback on configuration save, so I will do this only once?!

You are right, I guess :-)
Looking into 'components/com_content/models/article.php' I see that we should use something based on this code:

Code: Select all

$userId	= $user->get('id');
$asset	= 'com_content.article.'.$data->id;
// Check general edit permission first.
if ($user->authorise('core.edit', $asset)) {
	$data->params->set('access-edit', true);
}
// Now check if edit.own is available.
else if (!empty($userId) && $user->authorise('core.edit.own', $asset)) {
	// Check for a valid user and that they are the owner.
	if ($userId == $data->created_by) {
		$data->params->set('access-edit', true);
	}
}
Can you figure out exact replacement?

Yeah, the IsCommentByID() function should be rethought/refactored...
