Re: josdewplayer 1.5 and 1.7 native — support

Post by nanozombi » Mon Feb 27, 2012 1:52 am

Hi there,
I went through the 13 pages but could not solve my issue:
I have installed the josdewplayer plugin, and when I write the code in an article:

{play}images/stories/perlesrambles.mp3{/play}

When I save the Editor adds <p> and </p> at the beginning and the end of the sentence so that I only see the code as html text but I can't see the player.

I have enabled the plugin, and changed the Code cleanup on save in the Editor to Never.

Did the trick in an article and also in a custom module, but no success...

any idea on how to stop the editor to add the <p> tags?

Thanks a lot!

1. Which version of joomla and plugin do you use?
2. Tiny should always be set to clean code on save. In fcat we took off this parameter in 1.7/2.5 series
3. The fact that are added <p></p> has no impact whatsoever on the plugin. It will just display the player in a paragraph.

Although you should upgrade as soon as possible to 1.5.25
http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla ... ge_id=6159
as were corrected some vulnerabilities, I really can't help you without an url to a page containing the call to the plugin (plugin enabled)

I have reencoded it with Audacity.
liam.mp3.zip
Works now.

.
The original file (liam.mp3) is not actually an MP3 container file.
It is a WAV container file with an MP3 audio stream inside.
Quite odd.

A WAV format container file is not going to play in Dewplayer/Flash Player.

@seola
Out of curiosity . . . how did you create this file?
Have seen a few of these Windows media Frankenstein-media files and wonder where they are coming from.

Joomla 2.5.1 and the pugin is Josdevplayer for 1.7.
My site is
www.ostetrichenovara.altervista.org
in the home page
this code does not run
{play}images/stories/mp3/nomefilemp3.mp3|[AUTOPLAY]|#000000[BGCOLOR]|[AUTOREPLAY]{/play}
I have instead been obliged to use
{play}images/stories/mp3/nomefilemp3.mp3{/play}
and this now runs (I have written it twice)
Any idea?
Regards
Martino

I have no idea why it does not work on your site.
Maybe because it's embedded into some Copied Microsoft Word text.

Side Note:
UPDATE to 2.5.4 as 2.5.1 is vulnerable and many bugs were corrected in 2.5.4

Hi,

Is there a system version of Josdewplayer? I'd like to use it as an audioplayer in the footnote section of a flash book module and it just appears as code.

When I asked for support from the flipbook Developer they said only a system plugin would work with it

Thanks!

Fultonmac :)

I have installed and enabled the plugin, uploaded the mp3 files, inserted the tags, checked the paths and syntax, even tried the absolute path - the player appears but the mp3 file doesn't play. Please check:

http://salespartnersevents.co.za/busine ... gn-webinar

Checked on Mozilla & IE.

Joomla Version 2.5.6
JosDewPlayer Version 2.0

Any help would be appreciated!

.
This is not an MP3 file:
http://www.salespartnersevents.co.za/music/q1.mp3

It is a WAV container with an MP3 audio track inside.
Flash-based players do not understand WAV containers.

It played in QuickTime after the entire file downloaded.
Surprised it played at all.
Also actually played in Windows Media Player too.
Surprising.

Make sure you are using actual MP3 files and it should work.

No.
Dewplayer does not have this feature.
You cannot change the size of the player.
You cannot disable the progress bar.
These are limitations of the Dewplayer player itself, not the josDewplayer plug-in.

Use a plug-in based on the Flash MP3 Player (which can turn-off the progress bar).

Hi josdewplayer!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the player.

I got it working once but now it's not working. :(

Here's where the file is located:

https://youreallydolovescience.com/audio/Welcome.mp3

and here's the page with the player embedded:

https://youreallydolovescience.com/

and it won't play.

The text I have inside the module is this:

Play a welcome message from Jen!

{play}audio/Welcome.mp3{/play}

I've also tried {play}http://youreallydolovescience.com/audio ... .mp3{/play}

The html code in the module is

<p style="text-align: left;">Play a welcome message from Jen!</p>
<p>{play}audio/Welcome.mp3{/play}</p>

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Jen

@Jen

Have seen this issue a few times now.
And I know how to fix it.

BUT, I would like to know the root cause of this issue, the source of these broken files.
No one yet has answered my questions.

Where did this Welcome.mp3 file come from?
What software was used to create the file?

Answer my questions and I will not only tell you what the problem is, but I'll fix the file for you.
:)

Hi and thanks for your quick response.

Yes, I was wondering if the software that CREATED the mp3 was the culprit because the mp3 that does play was made with Windows Audio Recorder (which came installed on my netbook when I bought it) and the mp3 file that will NOT play in dewplayer was recorded using Camtasia!!

Can you fix this problem???

I love your dewplayer, so I want to use it....

So Camtasia is the culprit.
Thanks for that info to help solve the mystery.

The Welcome.mp3 file is actually a WAV container with an MP3 audio stream inside.
Which really does not make any sense at all to me.
Sort of a Frankestein file that does not fit anywhere properly.

I renamed your Welcome.mp3 file to
Welcome.mp3.actually-is.WAV
and then did a direct audio stream copy into an actual MP3 container named
Welcome.mp3.actually-is.mp3

Download the fixed file here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?c3zuqabdp89o0s6

Plays fine locally, but I did not test embedding it in a web page.
Expect it should play fine in Dewplayer now.

Wow that is too crazy. So Camtasia is masking the .wav file as an .mp3 and not telling me!!

I guess that would make sense because I first recorded the audio and video, then removed the video and produced it as an mp3.

Maybe it never gets to be a simple mp3 since it originally contained video???

Anyway thanks, and I will let you know if it works tomorrow!! Too tired to try again now....

Okay it worked!!
So how would I do a direct audio stream into an mp3 file if I need to do this again?
