I installed josdewplayer on my homepage a couple of weeks ago (using the JoomlaShack Vintage template). You can see it on the top right - http://www.talariel.com/
Id like to remove it now and cannot figure out where the code is.
Any ideas?

You have installed a module called mod_mediaplayer, not JosDewplayer plugin.
Disable the module in Module Manager or uninstall it.

Qui vult dare parva non debet magna rogare.

J'espère que je ne demande pas trop, puisque je n'ai pas encore rien à donner.

I'm brand new to Joomla and I know very little at this point. Could you please give me some very basic instruction for its use?

I've downloaded the player and uploaded it to my site.

I would like to know:

– Where is the best place to put my mp3s?

– How do I make the player show up on my front page?

– How do I direct it to my mp3 files?

Merci

This is a content plugin and should be used as a plugin.
Install through Admin->Extensions->Install
Then go to Admin ->Extensions->Plugin Manager and enable the plugin. Define if desired general parameters for the plugin.

Read instructions to use. They are available in French as well as English...
the {play}...{/play} tags have to be inserted in an article content. Use local parameters if desired.

To get the article on your home page, there are many solutions:
The article has to be loaded by your default home page menu item or you may display the article grace to a module (see CustomContent module on Joomla Exension Directory : http://extensions.joomla.org/component/ ... Itemid,35/ ) and the module assigned to a position available in your template and assigned to the Default Home page menu item.

As for any media, it is a good idea to store your mp3 in images/stories/. You could create a folder "mp3" so that your tags will be {play}images/stories/mp3/my_music.mp3{/play}

That's all there is to it.

Just one more question, if I may.

Is there any way to change the font size of the title of an mp3?

I don't mind doing a little CSS editing, if necessary, if you can give me specific instructions on where to find the pertinent code and what to change it to.

Thanks very much.

The plugin does not display the title of the mp3.
You have to do that yourself in the article and therefore format it as you like.

Of course I do. Should have thought of that myself, but now it looks just fine.

Thanks for your patience. And by the way, the player looks and sounds really great as well.

I've got a new question.

Please refer to my site: briancorrigan.tv

As you can see, I've put a player in a front page article, and I'll be adding more later.

I'd also like to put one in a module on the left along with some descriptive text. I created a Custom HTML module, added some text, and then the code for the player. But when I enabled the module, the code appeared as text... not a player.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Joomla 1.5 does not let plugins work on modules.
There is a solution though: use the CustomContent module (See JED.)
This module loads any article in it and plugins do work when used in these articles.

I tried what you suggested, but ran into two problems.

First, when you referred to "the" CustomContent module, I thought there was only one. If there was one particular one that you were referring to, I don't know how to find it in the JED list.

I did, however, find a module that seemed to be what you were talking about. I got it from the JED list and downloaded it here:
http://diebesteallerzeiten.de/blog/joom ... em-module/
(yes... I got the 1.5 version) and installed it and it works just fine.

But the code for the player is still rendered as code!

Did I get the wrong module? If so, could you point me specifically to one that works?

Thanks very much.

Also... two more things.

When I view my site on my wife's computer, the player runs very slow... the sound is distorted.

Friends of mine who try to access it from their PCs (I'm on a Mac) can't get it to work at all.

Maybe that has nothing to do with the player, but I thought it couldn't hurt to mention it.

Concerning the IE/PC issue, please desinstall, re-download the plugin from http://info-graf.fr/infografcvs/telecha ... sions.html
For a few hours there was an updated version there with a bug repeating the url for the mp3 path.

Concerning the module:

Thanks again. Both the new version of the player and the new module work just great.

Hello,
I am using josdewplayer plugin to play a 15 megabyte remote mp3.
When I start playing the mp3, it starts downloading the file and the audio starts to play. When I press the 'stop' button the audio stops but the file keeps on downloading...
Is there a way I can stop the file from continuing to download?

Only way would be to reload the page as far as I found out.

Thanks for your reply - not the answer I was hoping for though :)

Are there any other plugins available that have found a solution to this problem?

Plugins are not at stake here but usual html behaviour.
When one starts a mp3 streaming, only way to stop it is to reload page.
It is advised to NOT use the autoplay feature on that instance of the player.

One solution in the page interface would be to display a button with a simple javascript of the type
<input type="button" value="Stop download" onClick="window.location.reload(true)">

Hmmm... I looked at your code and all looks Ok.
I can load the player separately and also get the mp3.

Honestly no idea why it does not display.

Thanks for the Plug in...Also had a question, is there something for Joomla that allows for a music play list not just one song and an option to download that selected type of music file ether .wav or .mp3 or .mp4?

Download option could indeed be added to the plugin as a separate Button.
One can hack the code to do that in quite an easy way.

There is a version of the player that accepts multiple mp3, but it does not use lists and you may want to look for another player to accomplish this.

JosDewplayer should be understood as a very simple player anyone may use casually, not as a semi-pro full-featured player.

In fact would not be a button but a link to right-click. (Change text at will). Code to add in josdewplayer.php is

Code: Select all

<a href="'.$path.'">Download mp3 (Right-click to Save as)</a>
therefore change:
from:

Code: Select all

$text = '<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="'. $LiveSite .'plugins/content/dewplayer.swf?son='. $path .'&autoplay='.$autoplay.'&autoreplay='.$autoreplay.'" width="200" height="20" bgcolor="'.$bgcolor.'">  <param name="movie" value="'. $LiveSite .'plugins/content/dewplayer.swf?son='. $path .'&autoplay='.$autoplay.'&autoreplay='.$autoreplay.'" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="'.$bgcolor.'" /></object>
';
to:

Code: Select all

$text = '<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="'. $LiveSite .'plugins/content/dewplayer.swf?son='. $path .'&autoplay='.$autoplay.'&autoreplay='.$autoreplay.'" width="200" height="20" bgcolor="'.$bgcolor.'">  <param name="movie" value="'. $LiveSite .'plugins/content/dewplayer.swf?son='. $path .'&autoplay='.$autoplay.'&autoreplay='.$autoreplay.'" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="'.$bgcolor.'" /></object><a href="'.$path.'">Download mp3 (Right-click to Save as)</a>
';
