Re: ACL - FREE Component Control Access
I have an issue with Joomfish in conjunction with Noixacl.
I have made 2 menu blocks. One for registered users and one for all other groups.
The menu block for registered users should not be shown to the other users so I made an ACL to block the view for groups greater than Registered. This works fine with one language.
If the module is translated with Joomfish and the translation is published the ACL does not have any affect anymore - if the specific language is selected. This results that now 2 menu modules are shown.
Anyone can help with this?

tekknokrat,
First, have you visited my web site:http://blueflyingfish.no-ip.biz/joomla15 and reviewed my installation and "How to" documentation.
I have not, however, specifically tested whether there is any conflicts with Joomfish although Joomish is installed.

The setup of noixacl with the menu modules and the ACL is working when the modules translation is not published. So I believe everything is setup correctly and it is an issue that has its origin in Joomfish.
I only use the NOIXACL module adapter with some usergroup ACL.
Do you know how modules are identified in noiaxl by Alias, ID?

OK seems ID does not change. Do you know if I can change the module order for NOIXACL Plugins and Joomfish Plugins? I've read that the order affects the behaviour of the plugins.ewm wrote:tekknokrat,

Is it possible to send mass email to specific custom group created with this component? I am searching for some component where I can send mass emails to groups (or front-end mass mail with users/guests).

ExSpirit,
NOIX ACL is not a Joomla 1.5 email extension. I have used NOIX QVARNIS.
Please visit http://blueflyingfish.no-ip.biz/joomla15 for instructions on how to install NOIX and various "How To" papers.

As mush as I can see QVARNIS can only send email to all registered members. I don't need that, I have to send it to custom groups.

NOIX ACL is not a Joomla 1.5 email extension. NOIX ACL can be used with Joomla 1.5 email extensions to control who has access to that extension.
I know that you will find an email extension that accomplishes your needs.
Have you looked at Vemod News Mailer or J!Contact Professional Email Marketing for Joomla?

may you have a look at my posts (9 posts above). There's an issue that modules which are translated via joomfish do not adapt ACL anymore. given the language is selected. Please let me know if you need further info or access to test instance...
All the Best for new year!

Re: ACL - FREE Component Control Access
Hi Guys,
Has anyone tried the configuration for multigroup in NOIX? I'm trying to give access rights of a different group to a specific user. For example a user in manager group can inherit rights from supervisors group.
Many Thanks!

nahkampootah,
Have you had a chance to visit http://blueflyingfish.no-ip.biz/joomla15 and read any of the papers on how to use NOIX ACL.
In Project Three, I describe how I successfully set up a solution to the problem you describe.

Re: ACL - FREE Component Control Access
ewm,
I've read the project. What I wanted to do was to inherit the rights of a different group to a certain user in another group.
My 3 Groups:
1. Officers - (Officer1, Officer2)
2. Managers - (Manager1, Manager2)
3. Staff - (Staff1, Staff2)
Managers can only access their own content (works fine), but I want manager2 to access staff content. I checked the option on manage users that says multigroup but i still cant access the staff articles. Hope its much clearer.
Thanks!

nahkampootah,
In the paper titled NOIX ACL 2.0.6 Project Three,
Using NOIX ACL 2.0.6 to grant hierarchical group access to content.
I describe that the purpose of this paper is to provide detailed instructions on how to use NOIXACL2.0.6 to grant three hierarchical groups access to content.
The three groups in this exercise are Staff, Director and VP.
1) Staff can only view staff documents.
2) Directors can view Staff and Director documents.
3) VP can view Staff, Directory and VP documents
My web site is also a demonstration site.
I created users who belong to each group.
Please use the log ins that I provided in that paper to experience what I had set up.

Re: ACL - FREE Component Control Access
Obrigado.
Hi, need some tips on how to change noixacl to do this:
If a user belongs to several groups and if in one or more of those groups a particular component is not block then the user has access to that component. The opposite of what happens now.
Thanks

Re: ACL - FREE Component Control Access
Why is it no possible to select selfcreated groups when managing Levels?
I created some groups but when I go to "manage Levels" I can't select them - see also attached screenshot.
I also have another problem: I have an Menuitem whith the access Level "Special" - for this Level (which is the Joomla-Standard Special) I selected all groups I could select because I want that all groups above Registered can access it. If I have a User who just belongs to a group above Registered I have no Problem - but when I have one, who's first group is for example "Abonnenten" (look screenshot) and has as Multigroup "Clubs" He can view the menu item but when he wants to access he just gets an 403-Error.
Maybe it's becuase I can't select the group?

I reinstalled the adpaters which were update in november and reinstalled the system-plugin. The userplugin was already installed.
so now I have all the files installed you mentioned, but I still have the issue which I demonstrated with the screenshot.
Any other ideas?

Just wonder it this will be included in Joomla 1.6.0 core or as an extension to it?
If not why not help and bring this knowledge to core dev of J 1.6.0 ? They are as I guess already a good way to fix this no?

Re: ACL - FREE Component Control Access
Howdy,
This Component looks very promising, actually just what i need and miss.
But i encounter several problems that render it nearly useless for me.
1. I followed your instructions exactly (http://blueflyingfish.no-ip.biz/joomla15 P1: Control User Access) and it looks actually as if it would work, but digging deeper shows when a volunteer user for example knows the direct url to an item that he shouldnt have access to (members category for example) he can verywell acess it! so it seems that noixacl only hides things and doesnt actually prohibit access. actually every registered user has acces to all categorys
(example: domain.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=28)
2. in the "access adapter" it wont save the "general > frontpage add" checkbox, i have read from several people who had the same problem but no solution until now. (after saving it jumps back to unchecked)
Does anyone have similar problems?
What am i doing wrong?
My setup is as follows:
Existing 55 user database to move to noixacl,
Existing 100 posts content to categorize new
Joomla installation migrated from 1.0x to 1.5.15 (could that be the reason?)
My needs:
"submit" possibillity for group registered.
2 internal (secret) categorys plus 2 Usergroups that have exclusive access to these internal categorys (group1 access to only one of the internal categorys, group2 acces to both internal categorys)
Greetings
