Same thing, have a social site where photographers would like to uplaod images that they can sell. I would be happy if it intergrated with their paypal account or even a general web site account and I'll send them a check. If anyone finds such a solution please post it. I would even share the cost of having a component written.

I found some providers of such software, but not in the Joomla environment.

Here are some: I'll probably go for ktools-solution, but the price is high

Has anyone tried to implement things like virtuemart to sell photos?

I'm looking for the same thing, but i see, i'll have to use separate tools for watermarking and selling.. and some processes may be semi-automated which is not an option for a considerable photo collection..

The usual problem with ecommerce solutions is that mass uploading photos (like all photos from a wedding or portrait session) is not possible or at least hard. I use ktools and the joomla wrapper, but I would prefer a joomla component wich uses the joomla user management.

I have a solution of sorts on my http://www.newry.info website.

I use Gallery 2 with a Gallery2Joomla Bridge ( http://www.gallery-addons.com/gallery_a ... lery2.html ) fitted in a Joomla Wrapper (Via Menu configuration) and Paypal though its not as streamlined as I would like and probably a bit buggy as well as taking quite a while to set up!

I stumbled on this earlier. It is a hack to link Simple Caddy to Phoca Gallery. Not tried either component yet, but the demo looks like it has potential.

Hi,
It is a hack to link Simple Caddy to Phoca Gallery
The hack is no more needed. Phoca Gallery and Simple Caddy can work without hacking the code. See:

Documentation:
Phoca Gallery and Simple Caddy Integration

Is there a batch upload and price option? I only saw where you can upload one at a time....

Oh, you can also use Virtumart with Phoco Gallery, but it's real tedious....

You could have a look at Fotoplayer, which exists as a Lightroom plugin. You choose a set of photos in Lightroom, export to a folder and ftp that to your website (Lightroom ftp does not work very well)
You can add unlimited multiple choices per photo (size, glossy or lustre, BW/Color/Sepia/... and so on)
I use this for my clients now (one gallery per client, no subgalleries)
You can also make a gallery with subfolders if you're not using the Lightroom plugin
Have a look at http://www.fotoplayer.com/

The solutions here seem to be for ordering printed photos. I am looking to do a camp website (nonprofit) and would like to have the user pay and then download the digitial copies of their kids photos. Does anyone know how to do this?

Have you looked at jwallpapers http://jwallpapers-virtuemart.wextend.com/ I have used it in this site and works quite well.

You need to get the component that links to VM via the id number

Before heading off down that route, here's what I have been looking at today:-

either

a combination of http://demo.demente-design.com/?theme=aldebaran (you'll see it has a Gallery tab) and use Hikashop for the e-commerce side. You need some imagination, but I think if you find any template you like and add a gallery plus Hikashop you could have a good solution. You may even find that the Hikashop product layouts are good enough for the gallery if you link each product image to a lightbox.

OR

RocketThemes Reflex template which has their new RokGallery built in and they have a free extension called RokQuickCart. If you go to the RocketTheme website and check out the new RokGallery, you'll see that they have a video showing how it can be used. It can link up thumbnail images to their lightbox too.

Hello,
I came across your post.
I would like to know if you found a solution?
I'll be interested to collaborate with you to répartire the budget because I asked a developer offer, but only it's not in my budget.
Would you be ready to create something a 2?
Thank you for your next reply.

I'm looking into the same setup (As many other are obviously)

The fileseller seems to be a nice alternative, but with hundreds of pictures I wouldn't want to go through setting up an item one at a time. Any mass update possibilities ? And what about the download ? If you add the picture to the object, would that be the full sized picture or a thumbnail ?
Not yet downloaded, as I have limited time and not sure if I will be able to get the full benefits of it within a month to decide wether or not it is to stay or not.
Meanwhile.. still searching ...

The thing to remember about this is, the frame work is the easy part. A lot of photographers get all caught up believing if they build a cool shopfront, buyers will come. Unfortunately commercial buyers just aren't interested in browsing individual photographer collections UNLESS... your work is absolute top quality and unique.

If it's at all run-of-the-mill, they'd much prefer to use a library where they search 100s of collections at once. Some people do make a go of it obviously, but they usually either stop being photographers and take on a full-time marketing role... or they have the resources to pay someone to do it.

A much simpler option is to create a fantastic personal website to showcase your work, but link that to a proper stock library site, with all the features you want already built in.

That way they do all the tedious marketing plus you get access to their existing client list, so you have a real chance of selling your work regularly... and you get time to keep making great photos.

Something to keep in mind anyway!

Here I will recommend you DatsoGallery to sell images or any pictures through online. You can give a try with it.

Good points Matt.

It has been a while since I have looked at Datso but didn't see it would fit overall needs.

I previously used a Gallery2 Joomla 1.0 integration. Properly setup, it was a search engine magnet, deliveting a lot of captive onsite marketable traffic and decent amount of money using a rudimentary PayPal checkout. The issue was withe stability of integration project code, Gallery2 code compexity, and sever resources to deliver graphic-intense (photos) data to 30-50,000 unique visitors, which increases page views (time-on-site marketing opportunities) from maybe 3 PVs to 15-20 PVs. To pull that off takes time and multi-channel revenue streams. Not everyone is a direct photo buyer. Some are merely visitors, and that's where your alternative revenue channels are required.

I am using Phoca Gallery integration with Hikashop & HikaMarket (multi-vendor/photographer) Phoca is stable as is Hika. Though, Phoca category creation is a bit clunky in its redundancy.

If you are photographing action sports or motorsports photography, it would be worthwhile to talk. Otherwise, Zenfolio is the best option for photo hosting and ecommerce sales. There are integrations but they are costly and only for WordPress.

i think this is the best solution for the moment, and is not for free.

A joomla component:

Anyway you can try to test:
https://extensions.joomla.org/extension ... hoca-cart/

The working with images is based on gallery system (Phoca Gallery) - it is ecommerce extension but displays images like gallery extension: phoca.cz/phocacartdemo/phoca-star-template
