unlocking a content item

how does one unlock a content item? I am PC illiterate and keep screwing this thing up.

From the Joomla backend go to TOOLS > GLOBAL CHECK-IN

PS: Do not use the "Back" (go one page back) button in your browser when you are editing an article.
Close / Cancel or Save the article to close it, and unlock it.

How do you do it in 1.6? I found the Global CheckIn, but am still a little confused.
EDIT: I just realized this was for the 1.5. If I need to post this under 1.6, please let me know. Thanks!
