Registration by Invite Only

Hi,

I'm a newbie and i am wondering if there is a component/Module that would enable users to register on the site with an invitation only. users of the website should be able to send a invitation and this invitation should have a code which the invitees can use to register themself on the website.

Yes, I would love to have something like this also... a module so you can restrict communities to invite only one's, as it helps keep a niche community focused and ontopic without all the admin issues of spammers, etc. The closest I found which isn't invite, but instead a passphrase, is http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... 60/details. Not even close to what we want, but atleast restricts registration to those who know the passphrase. I guess I am going to use that until something better comes along... which I hope is soon. Drupal does have it if you need it, but you would have to change to Drupal, which doesn't have the resources that Joomla has available unfortunately.
