Photo Gallery Extension to Sell Photos

I was wondering if there is a Photo Gallery extenstion that would allow one to sell their photos. Kinda like a shopping cart for photos using Paypal or some other pay service. Users would be able to choose the size of the print and order multiple copies. Any such animal?

Hi,

Did you ever find an extension that meets these requirements? I'm making a site for a wedding photographer.

We want to be able to easily add photographs of a wedding, so the bride and groom can choose their images. also so guests of the wedding can order a print or too as well.

Never did. From my research, there isn't one for Joomla. There is stand alone software for websites, but nothing integrated into Joomla. Hopefully, that will change.

Ive recommended to my website client to use smugmug professional.
There is a joomla extension to link to smugmug, but thats about it.

I would pay for a smugmug style extension that could be used easily within a joomla website.

I've just finished a script called Photography Orders that has all those features. It could run alongside Joomla but I haven't looked at making it a Joomla extension yet. If there was enough demand I would consider it...

humm good post, cause I'm about to do a site on the same line, At this moment I'm doing research on such a extension and found this post.

My first aproach was to use VirtueMart that has the option to sell software / downloadable items, so what I was thinking is to have the thumbnail with a watermark and have then have somewhere the high res image, o send it by mail. (this method is something I thought last night, haven't check how possible/effective it is, will be testing it on the upcoming days and might let you know).

sounds a bit labour intensive for the photographer.

I want a system where a photographer can upload there images, then the component, create watermarked thumbnails, with the ability to add membership control, so that the photographer can also give out a login & password to there clients, where they can view and buy prints, or order larger prints, canvases, framed images, online/secure proofing etc.

I have a friend who uses a phosys site, who charge £400 setup + £400 a year.
this is the sort of system/component i would like, for Joomla.

There are a couple of develors looking in to it. The guy who commented above and think also that Helix at OSE is looking into it too.

Open Source Exellence Joomla Membership Control Manager to lock down a yoogallery mod to a user account. This allows me to lock down images to clients. For them to purchase images i have to do it manually over the phone so an extension that integrates a paypal or credit card payment system would be amazing. Im just wondering if i could maybe use OSE to lock down a virtual mart product. i will look into it.

But i hope the above will help some to create accounts and lock down images to them.

OSE Membership control can be used with virtue mart, speak with Helix and the guys at OSE to see how to do this.
Also look at the OSE forum as I raised this issue with them and they were looking into creating a plugin

But currently we only can lock down categories, not specific products.

We will work on the PhocaGallery addon when OSE Membership Control 4.4 stable is out, nearly there, just need some more polishing.

Hi,

This picsell looks OK if you want to sell image downloads or stock images, but not if your a photographer that wants to sell there images from a party or wedding to its guests after the event.

Im still looking for a component, where a photographer can simply upload 50-100 photos, automatically resize images, add watermark, thumbnail and then an e commerce side of things so the photographer can set out different prices for different size prints.

I know this can all be done using different gallery components with virtuemart, but if you have to add 100 products every time you do a wedding this could be come quite tedious.

Any one got more solutions or ideas?

Will it helps if there is csv export and import functionality? In the csv it is possible to mention thumb image path, selling image path, watermark image path, price, category etc... But i guess it is tedious to create watermark images manually and mention in csv.
We will work on generating the watermark dynamically in the run time instead of uploading time.

Is pic sell not for downloading images only though?

I want to sell photographs taken at a wedding for example to the wedding party guests after the event. where they can view images in the site, select either a 6x4 print, 7x5 print, 6x8 print and pay for it.

I can then get it printed and post them out.

I have implemented some custom coding for a client that allows for batch uploading and product creation with attributes.... It creates PhocaGallery items and Virtuemart products and links them together.

You can see the result at http://momentscaptured.org ... I'm still working on making it better, but it works pretty good as it is.

I think most of the photo printing sites have apps like that maybe some will fit into Joomla.

I have picsell on one site, it OK , but time consuming to get images n and limited to downloading images only at the moment. woudl be great if there were more styling options, proofing section for photographers to have there customers proof there images privately, mass upload (not via csv) and the ability to have some sort of cart to order prints
