Problem installing some components, possibly host problem

Post by Shawn Alain » Sat Dec 05, 2009 8:28 am

I installed joomla with ease on a free hosting site byethost.com but now when I try and install some components like com_comprofiler I get the error
Your Extension appears to be written for an older version of Joomla!. You must enable the System - Legacy Plugin in the Plugin Manager if you wish to complete this task.
I did add the following to the last line of my htaccess file
php_value upload_max_filesize 8M
I'm using joomla Version 1.5.14 so these extensions should work?
Any ideas?

Your Extension appears to be written for an older version of Joomla!. You must enable the System - Legacy Plugin in the Plugin Manager if you wish to complete this task.
This means that the extension you are trying to install was written to run in Joomla 1.0.x, not in Joomla 1.5.

If you want to install that particular version of Community Builder, you need to turn on the Joomla 1.5 Legacy Mode: http://docs.joomla.org/What_is_%22legacy_mode%22%3F

However, the Community Builder has version 1.2.1 that runs in Joomla 1.5 native mode, therefore you do not need to turn on the Legacy Mode unless you have other extensions that are available only in the Legacy Mode: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... nities/210
