Which extension to use to achieve this?

Hello Joomla community! I'm new to this brilliant CMS and finally started learning how to make websites with it by opportunity of a university project. I have to make a website for a museum. What I want is to make a database of images that belong to certain searchable categories. When the links to the items in the collections appear, I want them to appear in this lightbox style, with their description in the caption, very similarly to this link here: http://www.gnhm.gr/Collections.aspx?collId=3

The database thing I can figure out; my main question is how to achieve the effect of clicking on the image link and having it appear "hovering" in the center of the screen -- I presume it will be by use of a certain extension. Thank you in advance! :)
