Video Player Plugin for SWF video

Hi.
Intend to use SWF to play video. SWF is created from a power point presentation. When using Flowplayer FLV video (converted from SWF to FLV) works fine and loads fast however the video quality is poor.
Using Allvideo for SWf video ( good quality video) it takes too long to load. Filesize approximately the same (4.5MB).
Is there a player which loads SWF fast?
Thank you.

When you convert a PPT to a SWF the video is compressed and stored in the SWF as an FLV.
Then when you convert the SWF back to an FLV the video is compressed again.
Thus the poor quality.

Generally SWFs do not start to play until the entire file is downloaded.
Because of this SWFs usually are not a good format for pure video.

Your best results would be from converting directly from PPT to a high quality MP4.
Then play the MP4 with a video player.

Hi Kenmcd.
Thank you for your reply. I use Ispring Pro to convert PPT to SWF it does not have an FLV extension. Am I doing something wrong?
I like your suggestion re MP4. Which is the best video player to use? Remember speed is the essence.
Cheers

No you are not doing anything wrong.
I had assumed your converter had made a video of the PPT and packaged it in a SWF with controls.
SWFs can contain all kinds of stuff – images, scripts, videos, audio, text, fonts, etc.
When you put a video file into a SWF it is actually an FLV file in there.
I just took a look inside the Ispring demo file and found lots of images, text, fonts, scripts, and an MP3 for the background music.
So it looks like they are converting it to an animation SWF, not just a video with controls.

But the compression issue still applies.
SWFs are compressed and the images inside are compressed, etc., etc.
So when you convert the SWF to an FLV, re-compression is happening.
And the tool being used to do the conversion also has an effect on the quality.
Awhile back I tested one of those SWF-to-FLV tools (Sothink) and the quality was horrible.
So your mileage may vary.

You will get the best quality by converting the presentation directly into an MP4 at the desired size.
No re-compression.
No re-scaling.

The MP4 player is not really the speed issue.
Any player will play the MP4 at the same speed.
Just create the MP4 correctly and it will start playing almost immediately.

Hi kenmcd.
Please suggest a quality PPT to MP4 Converter?
Also what would be the best player in Joomla ?
Perhaps you could be kind enough to give me your email address or phone number, it would be much quicker to communicate?
I am thankful for all this information you supply.

Cheers

Last time I did a PPT to video conversion I used Adobe Captivate.
As would be expected, the quality was very good.

I am sure there are some other relatively inexpensive tools available out there which would do a quality job.
Use search.

The AllVideos Plugin or the AllVideos Reloaded extension would both easily play the video.
