link banner to internal article

I need to link a banner to an internal article. I see the "click URL" parameter but I am not sure what to enter in to link to the particular article.

the url, starting with "index.php"

No.

your url would be something like:

index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=XX&Itemid=XX

the best place to get this is the menu item that calls that article.

I also want to use banners to link to internal pages, but, I have SEF URL's set to yes. I am trying to enter a URL such as: /pageiwanttolinkto, but it ain't working. What is the format of the URL that I must enter for a banner to point to an internal page when SEF URLs are in use? I am using Joomla 3.3.6. Thanks.

Hi! Thanks for the quick response. When I enter that code you wrote, with the ID filled in for the article I want to open, and the extra characters removed ("amp"and ";", etc) so that it looks like a joomla link, and I go to save it, the click url field adds http:// before index.php... consequently, when I go to the site, the link doesn't work...

this is what gets saved:
http://index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5

you can include your domain name:
http://yourdomainname.com/index.php?opt ... ticle&id=5

Ah! I guess that is what I was trying to avoid. I am working on localhost on my PC and was trying to avoid absolute links... From your answer, I guess there's no way around it... Thanks, I'll do that.
