Accidentally installed new version of Joomla on existing one

Accidentally installed new version of Joomla on existing one

I have mistakenly extracted the new Joomla package on an existing directory which contains previous Joomla site. The earlier Joomla was being managed with Zoo. Now, this site is prompting for the installation of new Joomla site.

Unfortunately I do not have the backups of the previous site. Is there any way I can link back to the recover the site?

I really need help urgently here.

I'd first create a backup of all files and the database as it is now.
Then remove the /installation directory

After this, get the latest Joomla 1.5 release. Copy over this over your current website without the /installation again. Configuration.php should still be there, so theoretically that should work.

Who is your host? They may provide you an earlier backup.
