Job Board update??

Hi I have recently taken over a company that uses joomla 1.5. I have a basic understanding and can update the whole site....but the jobs board seems a bit dated....is there an update or new version that I can install without loosing all the current jobs etc?? Also how much do things like that cost? At the moment it says it has job board 1.5.1 installed.

I have a lot of updates I would like to make to the site just need to learn how to do it. Appreciate any advice that anyone can give.

First and foremost, suggest taking the back-up of the site (both files and the database content by exporting the content using tools such as phpMyAdmin) before attempting any update to the site. Better check whether the backed up files and the database files could be restored in a test environment. Try the update first in the test environment before doing the update in the production environment.

Most of the times, the update is simply installing the latest version of the extension or an update package of the extension. You have to check the documentation of the extension to know about how to update it to a later version.
