Hi,

Is there anyway to insert text (such as the title of the file) in place of the '?' that appears when the player is not playing? Or at best, remove the '?' all together?

The swf is self-contained and can't be edited, but it is easy to add in the article the title of the mp3 to the right of the player.

It worked on my local site, but as soon as I uploaded the site remotely, the player doesn't show - just a blank white space where it should go. The path is correct and the .swf file is there. Any thoughts?

The player is embedded right above the green "Download" image. As you can see, it's simply blank. Also, see attached screenshot

Hi Infograf,

Thank you for the great josdewplayer plugin. Is there a way to change the player colour in when viewing a site using IE8? Looking at chrome and firefox i can seethe player in the correct colour but in IE it seems to default to white. I have cleared my browsers cache but it does not seem to make a difference...

Appreciate you feedback.

Thanks :laugh:

@sexxymarvin

Weird...
I can load the player as well as the mp3 but it does not display.
I have the feeling this may be due to your template. Can you test with a core joomla template?

Only the background colour can be customized. Default is #FFFFFF, i.e. white

Hi Infograf,

Thanks for the feedback. I understand the default background is #FFFFFF however i have set {play}audio/files/<name of mp3 file>|#000000[BGCOLOR]{/play} as well as setting the Background colour Parameters in plug-in parameters as #000000. It seems to change the player background colour correctly in FireFox and Chrome but IE8 seems to stay white. Apologies in advance if my understanding is incorrect however i would've thought that if BG Colour is correctly displayed in FireFox and Chrome then my configuration is correct. Perhaps this is an IE issue?

Thank you in advance for your assistance, :)

Hi Infograf,

Please accept my apology i was actually referring to the background colour of the plug-in. I'm more than happy with the other aspects of the player. (Perhaps i caused confusion by referring to the colour as the player colour).

Thanks,

I have been looking for a player that i can include in an article. I have already tested 1PixelOut and though it works fairly, I am looking for something more "classic".

I had a look in JosDewplayer demo and i noticed that the time is only displayed in seconds! So if I want to play a 3.42 track, the player will display 222 (once the track is fully loaded)??? It doesn't make sense, if I may say...
Is there any way I can correct this, so as to get the display in minutes.seconds?

I enabled this feature.
Please uninstall your previous version and install this new one:

@infograf768:

Thank you for the quick reply and solution!!

If I may also add another suggestion..
I understand that I need to use the plugin, by defining {play}images/stories/mp3/mymusic.mp3{/play}.
However, since most users will follow the instructions and will simply add a folder [mp3] within the [images/stories/], don't you think that it would also be convenient to be able to set a "default" folder, within the plugin parameters? So, if the "default" folder is [images/stories/mp3/] the user will be able to use just {play}mymusic.mp3{/play}, which i think would be much easier...
I guess this could cause problems when a user would like to play a remote file, but the solution might also be simple there: the users could use something like {play url} instead of the normal {play} ..
What do think of this?

This would break legacy. Choosing a specific folder is part of everybody's choice.
Full urls are treated separately and would anyway not be concerned.

If you wish, you may easily edit josdewplayer.php file for your specific use by changing line 85 to 87
Code:
} else {
   $path =$LiveSite.$path;
   }

to
Code:
} else {
   $folder='images/stories/mp3/';  // if this is the folder you always want to use to store your mp3s
   $path =$LiveSite.$folder.$path;
   }

Hi,

I tested it with the JA_Purity template and it still doesn't show. Thing is that it works on my local MAMP. Is there a setting on my server that I could tweak to make it work? Flash DOES work as you can see by the animated banner on the front page.

Thanks again for your support efforts.

Absolutely no idea about your issue.
At looking at firebug, all the <object> code is greyed, which is not the case on a working site.
See picture.

Folks,

I posted a new version of josdewplayer ( 1.8 ) which can be parametered to use a transparent background, thus not using any more the deprecated bgcolor expression.
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... llery/4779

Tip: to get a background-color, set the player parameter to transparent and include it in a styled table cell.

Hello

Is it possible to start automatically the player on first arrival on the page but to disable for some time (for instance: the same day) the automatic play feature (with a cookie, ...)?
In fact, I would like to obtain a feature like "START AUTOMATICALLY ONCE"

Very nice plugin.

Daniel

Hmmm.. it just doesn't make sense. My other flash based plugins are working fine. You really don't have any thoughts or suggestions about how to make it work?

I think you are running into the Flash Player cross-domain security restrictions because of the alias in the URL and/or it is not an actual domain.

For this link created by the plug-in:
Code:
http://209.62.31.186/~puremagn/plugins/content/dewplayer.swf?son=http://209.62.31.186/~puremagn/mp3s/waveframe.mp3&autoplay=0&autoreplay=0&showtime=1
. . . your server response is 403 Forbidden.
The 403 response seems to confirm this is the problem.

Note: this is an Adobe Flash Player issue not a Dewplayer issue.

The usual way to deal with this issue is to use a crossdomain.xml file.
See:
Cross-domain policy file usage recommendations for Flash Player
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/cross_domain_policy.html
and
Policy file changes in Flash Player 9 and Flash Player 10
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/fplayer9_security.html

There are also many other articles out on the web, but I have not yet found anything which specifically discusses temporary aliased IP access.
The crossdomain.xml file usually is placed in the root of the domain being accessed by the Flash Player.
So I am not sure if this is a solution in this situation.
My guess is that when you start using an actual domain it will work.

-----
EDIT: I just looked at the page again and looked farther down at the video player.
It works so the cross-domain issue does not seem to make sense.
But the 403 response is there for the MP3 link.
I wonder if it is a conflict between the two players.
What happens if you disable the other player plug-in?

.

Thanks for the tips. I too thought it was a domain name/permissions issue. But the fact that the video player still works confused me. I did disable the video plugin but the Dewplayer still wouldn't show. I'll wait until the domain is active and see what happens.

thanks.

Although your server is extremely slow, I can play here your mp3s on any browser, specially as you used the last version of the plugin without bgcolor.

Very interesting, wonder why it won't play on my husband's laptop? He first had IE 6 then I updated it to IE 8, neither played. Would you please do me a favor and tell me if on this page if Allvideos player will play? http://getalifemedia.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=33&Itemid=30
Neither would on his laptop, which had just been reformatted. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.
Thanks for all of your help.

Works OK.
You may have to reinstall a flash plugin on that PC.

Thank you for taking the time to do that for me.
Sorry to bother you again, but which browsers did you view them in? I was considering downloading at least firefox, to able to check this myself but I am afraid it may clash with some of my other programs installed on my pc. Having two browsers may cause a conflict and I don't even want to get into that right now. I use IE because that is the browser most users use.
Thanks again.

Getting Firefox and IE on a PC is not an issue.
One just defines the default browser.

Just make sure you install the necessary flash plugins for these browsers.
