Hi! I have problem: there are no styles in editor in front-end. In this time in back-end no problem, all styles are in drop-down list in editor (so, my css-file connect properly, as i understand).
In Global Configuration set use custom css-file and set path for this file: templates/$template/css/editor.css
In Profile enabled only default profile, for front-end and back-end, option "Editor Styles" - Inherit.
Most strange is that on back-end it works, but on front-end - no any styles...

JCE 2.0.4 (use also 2.0.3 - same problem), Joomla 1.5.22, template - any (use standart: beez, JA-purity, milkyway - no result).

Can you help me?

I have reverted back to JCE 1.5.7 on J1.5. The editor does not show when logged in with a user set to Norwegian as the language. On 1.6/1.7 there is no problem.

For your issue, I would have checked that the variable $template has the correct value. Try to hard-code the path. Do editor.css exist in all the templates?

Try to set English language - nothing changes...

Yes, value is correct - at least because i see styles in back-end (in administration section), but no any styles in front-end (when editing articles from main page)

try to templates/00423/css/editor.css - same problem...

Then it does not exist. Either create one or set the JCE configuration go to a css file that exists.

By FTP i see editor.css in folder css of my current template

And how can it doesn't exist when JCE in administration section (back-end) display styles from it??

Just to state the obvious. The actual setting for 'Editor Styles' should be 'Custom css files'

And does editor.css have anything in it ?

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Have you installed Joomla to the web root?

Try to add a leading "/" to the path.

Could the problem be the folder name is all Numeric ?

Try a different Template ?

Yes, Joomla is on root directory.

Per Yngve Berg wrote:

Try add "/" - styles dissapear from back-end too.
Add "./" - styles in back-end present, but on front-end - no any styles again...

Try template "beez" (and others standart), try set css-path to templates/editor.css - same problem...

I got the PM but your site is refusing to load in my Browser.
Front end the info bar on the Browser says 'Loading data from' then 'Transferring from'.

The Admin says 'waiting for'

Not sure if that helps, but I have the same issue and also tried the to add the template file path with or without a leading slash, with or without the template name resolved or as $template, as a list combining all variants, all to no avail.
The styles list remains not functional in the front end, but it is in the back end (today's release 2.05).

Firefox and IE do not show any errors, but Opera complains:

But this is back-end (adninistrator section) - there all works without problems!
I haven't styles on front-end, when i work with articles from main page of my site...

Of course I will :-) and as you mention, it works in the backend but not in the frontend.

I just noticed something: when I click the paragraph list it opens. Clicking it again closes the dropdown and the box keeps a little dotted outline, indicating it still has the focus.
Attachment:
style_no_focus.jpg

However, I cannot get the styles list focussed. Clicking it simply has no effect, it does not open and it does not get the focus.
On the other hand it does not look as if the style list was hidden behind another element. Rightclicking with Webdeveloper tools allows me to view exactly the styles box.
Maybe someone has an idea?

Solved it:

The path to the css file is default "templates/$templatename/css/editor_content.css"

Change it to "templates/$template/css/editor_content.css"

The hoover over help text says the varable name is $template.

What is variable $templatename? Never saw it...

Also:

It seems, problem is not on the path to css-file (because in back-end all styles present).
And when i set in Global Configuration "Use template css" - same problem - styles are in back-end, but not on front-end.
Maybe, problem is in JCE and some technical difference between main page and administrator section? I don't know...

It is a variable that has the value of your Default Template name. As the Default Template name is the same as the folder name for that Template.

Therefore it allows the path to adjust depending on whichever Template you name as Default.

I can confirm the issue. The Styles drop-down is not filled in the front-end in J1.5. No issue in J1.7.
You have file a bug report to the developer.

Oh, maybe it is in Joomla 1.6 or 1.7?
My problem is in 1.5.23...

Yes, also test in 1.7 on XAMPP - no problem...

There is topic on JCE official forum, but no any responses... Or maybe i must send this info somewhere else?

Ah editing from the front end. Yes I see now. Looks like a bug in JCE.

Hi, today's update to JCE 2.0.7 finally resolved the issue with the empty style lists in the front end. Good news, thanks to all
