Why JWC2015 in India?

Post by leolam » Fri Mar 06, 2015 3:12 am

Why do we want our Joomla-women to be put at risk in female hostile India?

http://edition.cnn.com/2015/03/05/asia/ ... index.html

http://m.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-31749868

Why don't we make a point as Joomla and withdraw from India and schedule this event elsewhere where our Joomla and other women can feel safe?

That statement borders along stereo typing and racist. In every land there are criminals but it does not mean the entire country thinks and behaves humanely depraved as those few.

See this chart http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_statistics
Rape_rate_per_100,000_-_country_comparison_-_United_Nations_2012.png
According to the Nation Master Rape Rate, rapes are greater in the Netherlands than India. Of course India has way more people than Netherlands so it does not equate.

I am not a racist and married to a non-Caucasian woman. Have you seen the documentary? Have you followed what is going on with tourists in India? Have you read that a Minister in India has requested not to broadcast the documentary for very dubious reasons as published by BBC? Have you read what the lawyers of those on death row for these murders are stating together with top officials of India?

Get facts together before lashing out Rabbit? You opinion is as always here on the forums irrelevant to me

I avoided response all week thinking this thread would have stirred the ire of the moderators and be deleted, but apparently it is acceptable.

It is unfortunate that you focused on the single word 'racist' and therefore read it outside the context which it was used, and that is "borders along". There was adbsolutely no intent to label you as racist, and my apologies to you that it was construed as such.

That said, it is of grave dissappointment that you chose the combative path, as I expected a discussion or debate. Similarly as you mis-interpreted my response as offense, is how the thread's topic and original post statement could be viewed by Indians as myself, as discriminatory and offensive. Likewise, it dares to imply that the event organizers are not smart enough to make decisions based on media hype. Yourself being of a more elderly status, based on the avatar photo you use, I expected you would choose the honorable path and put forth an apology to those who might take it negatively then proceed to clarify your reasons, and be open to accept the logic behind the organizers' decision.

Unlike yourself, I did place relevance on your posts within the Joomla forum as they did prove your knowledge of the core abilities of the framework. Also your forum seniority and, based on the photo you use, your age seniority would deter any blatant disrespect from myself to you, especially because I do not know you.

However, now that you have made it clear that we are adversaries within this forum, I will refrain from responding to your threads and avoid any postings that you may interpret as an offense.

See my edit..... I was indefinitely not addressing you but the idiots in the documentary. Apologize for creating the impression that I meant you to be an idiot. I would not characterize in public a fellow boarder here whatever I think privately
